In Silvestripe the images are in the Files section (on the left of the

Note: make sure you are in the Documentation website and not the default

Hi,

Link on https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHuntingSession/6.2.0Alpha
under quick start:
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/?version=6.2.0
shows the page with 6.1 and 6.0

And I don't think that the download page will show an alpha soon :)

Also not sure if we already want to show 6.2 on
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

So point to pre-releases
 https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/
or nightly builds
 https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/
?

Thanks for Kees from Dutch list for noticing,

Good idea... but isn't this palette already available in (at least) 5.4.x ?!

I don't take offense at that comment of course in a open source project.
We know there have been numerous attempts and efforts to change the
current situation in which you are lacking time to effectively handle
the work load and implement the improvements timely. We all know for
years they are needed. Attempts including funds, offerings and probably
numerous things that happened out of sight for me. Without effect until now.
In this light, I think your comment is rather unfortunate.

So for my own record (finding how to do this is always hard)

1. in the left colum, choose 'releases'
2. in the middle column, pick the desired one
3. in the green function/tool bar choose Edit
change version in the list more at the bottom
4. in the green function/tool bar choose the menu from State: Finale
release and choose Re-release.

I'm not sure if that is needed. Speeking for myself: more then enough to
do and there is no harm if the extension is there without explicit
testing on newer versions.
A single action/button "update release for new LibreOffice version"
would make it easier to do however.

[libreoffice-website] Get-involved sugestion and Redundancy on LibreOffice.org

Hi,

-1-
Below the text on http://www.libreoffice.org/community/get-involved/
there is only a "get the source code"-link. It would be clearer maybe if
there is mentioned something as: check all the possibilities in the
Community-menu.

-2-
Now that the TDF website is shiny and new: would it be an idea to change
pages on LibreOffice.org, such as
 http://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/governance/
 http://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/advisory-board-members/
 etc..
so that they only mention and direct to the TDF page on the subject?

Looking at these issues, and the fact that you repeatedly emphasize that
you do the work in your free time, I would suggest you to ask the board
to support the work, so that the most can be done in a project by
someone having normal time to do it. And that your, of course fully
understandable limited availability, is no longer a bottle neck. The
site is important enough for such a move, IMO.

> I created a new test website, that runs on a new shiny Plone 5.0:

Thanks for that, of course :)
Few remarks:
1) I was thinking about advantage when the split
Home | Extensions | Templates
is removed. Extensions are the landing page, for what the very vast
majority comes to the site.
A clear Instructions somewhere will be OK for people.

2) The search top-right is fine, but it is not clear that that is the
way to search for an extension..

3) Nearly two years ago we made a functional design for some pages.
Can you give an update (wiki?) on the status of the current work in
relation to that design?

Thanks a lot,
Cor

The theming one.
The exttemptest-site has the disadvantage that it still shows the odd
home page, where there is no extension ;)
On the new theming one "Browse Extension by Category" is better visible
and nice to use. But "Most recent Extension" and other stuff may use so
much vertical space, that "Browse" is out of site.

The extensions website serves a great goal and the existing pages made a
very good start for that time, for which I'm really grateful.

Looking at the fine detailed progress over the past year, I think that
it's easy too for you, to make the next step in this project. Then
seeing final results of your work will go much faster as you can
effectively use your knowledge to make others help, rather then keeping
looking for people to help as was done over the past years. I'm sure you
can make that step too and think that others who much rely on you, will
really appreciate.

Re: [libreoffice-website] New LibreOffice-Extensions-Template - Development Status

2015-01-22 Thread Cor Nouws
Hi Andreas,

Andreas Mantke wrote on 29-12-14 18:42:
> I'm using the feedback Cor gave some month ago.

Yes, I remember that, but it was a year ago :)
BY then I was not able to quickly find a clear link between the ideas
and the steps in development. What I missed mainly, was a clear mock up
to discuss. My input was some step in that direction, but not good
enough. Alas due to severe time constraints I have, I stopped looking at
it. And since then my agenda has not improved - surprise :)

It would be great if this extensions site could get a boost. It's
important work that many users visit and there are so much suggestions
to make those visits even more a pleasure. You intended to post a
concept "within the next days" - a year back.. But of course you're
busy too with normal day life job and tasks. So I would consider to
accept that it's good to consider to get support from people that know
the platform, that take a lot (not all, and of course not all the fun ;)
) from your shoulders ;) IIRC there was some willingness in the board to
make that possible.

Cheers,
Cor

Some late thoughts - not included in my sketch:
(.. now that we are looking at the design ;) )

 - search in titles of the extensions or in descriptions or in both
 - (maybe votes ..)
 - when it comes to different versions for different OS-es, I would say
make a different Extension (thus name) for that (since that must be
rare occasions and it saves some work on the design and buidling)

+1 for the latter idea.

Links to the releases and link to download the latest, I guess ?

I guess the user (the one who downloads) will see the 'content type' ?

I think some of those will be the same for all versions of the
extension. So omitting to fill in by the author (and easy link or such)
would be helpful.

> Does this structure sound more user friendly? Feedback? Additions?

For what I realise now (trying to visualise your technical terms) I
think it's good.

Wonder if others with experience/knowledge of other extensions-sites see
some omissions / ideas ..

Cheers,
Cor

A smart solution seems to have the version "all"
And if that's wrong, the author will hear complaints. ;)

In my previous message I wrote a IMO simpeler solution.

Yes, that is OK, plus that I would like to have searches for Most

For a user that would not be interesting, I guess. Only from a technical
POV that might matter?

Yes, see the page "New extension" though LibreOffice version is not
mandatory IMO.

Ah, interesting. Yes of course it's very good to take that onto

Can't it be simple
  [ upload path ][ for version |V] (list) [ for OS |V] (list)+

where version and OS have 'all' too and that clicking + adds a new line
and that at the end the author clicks [Add] or [Submit] ?

Hi,

Probably noticed by others/already, but for me it's not possible to
load, thus update pages. I get errors.

Will try later this evening or so...

Also: yesterday I added some text to the special x.y.0 field for the
main site download page. But I do not see it on the published site.

Might have gone lost in a server problem too?

[libreoffice-website] Prepare download page for 3.6.0

2012-07-24 Thread Cor Nouws

Hi,

Currently, the download pages give to little information for people to
be prepared for our next dot-zero release.

I suggest to put a short sentence extra on top. E.g.

"This is LibreOffice 3.6.0, prepared with care and presented with proud
by the LibreOffice community. But since it's the first in the 3.6
series, please read the release notes (see left)"

What do you think?
Thanks,

Thanks for your reply!

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-policy/
Would love to have it linked in the group of "Handy resources" at the
download page.

Add "dl" to the meta-keywords of the release-policy page (to only list
it for a certein version, use dlver- dlver-3.5 or
dlver-3.5.1)

Works :-)

Also, would like to add "optional" to the help-download.

That would require chaning the translation (in this matter en_US can
also be treated as translation)

I was able to find the translation for Dutch in Pootle.
(By the way: I guess someone has to update the website with that).

Problem!
When I click on one of the resources, e.d. release notes, I get the
message: " The action 'release_notes' does not exist in class
DownloadSimplePage_Controller "

Also, I fail to find where to change the original English page in
Silverstripe and Pootle.

Any hint ?

As a side effect of adding our release policy to the navigation, there is to
much text in horizontal direction.
Hmm, I suggest to have one item "features" about the 3.5 and there on top
linking to 3.4 and previous (as is done now with 3.3. on the 3.4 page). OK?

Or one could hide the "Downloading Instructions" from the menu. It is
outdated, and wall-of-text (AKA ugly :-)) anyway. It has a long
navigation title, so that will free much room on the 2nd level
navigation bar.

Done the latter.
Can do the first (publish only one feature-item in the menu) later if
necessary.

Re: [libreoffice-website] "Pre-Releases" page

2012-04-09 Thread Cor Nouws

Hi Marc, Klaus-Jürgen,

We 'struggle' with this in the Dutch language group too.

Marc Paré wrote (08-04-12 11:54)

We could just delete the following words: "LibreOffice 3.5.2 RC2
(2012-03-29) Below, you can download a release candidate build of the
upcoming 3.5.2, for evaluation, QA testing, etc." and perhaps replace
with a generic sentence such as: "Below you can download the latest
testing builds available on our servers."
Then there would never be a need to manually update the page again.
[...[

That would remove the need to update that header, but there is also the
link to the release notes. And those are relevant.
Also, seeing a version and a date, may/should help to raise the feeling
that it is really relevant to test.

So for now, I do not see a possibility to change that.
The situation is that with each new release I already update some pages:
 - main (often)
 - download
 - release notes
 - release notes history (what we have in Dutch)
 - and indeed must not forget pre-releases ..

it's me who regularly posts to the social networks, including Facebook
and Twitter. From time to time (with no pattern) I also announce RCs.
However, I then clearly manage it's a release candidate.

I'm not sure what works best. I guess informing the world about an RC
makes sense, so people see progress being made, and interested QA
supporters can join early. It's just important to clearly announce it's
a RC.

I fully agree.
The initial comment was, that release candidates better are not promoted
before they are spread around the mirror network.

And the Facebook article did not wait for that.
