Brian – What section number will be your bottom? If you are using Section # 8 as the bottom then you need to use the foundation pad recommendations for Section 8. If so, then you are looking to excavate for a foundation that is 5 ft 9 inches by 5 ft 9 inches and 4 ft deep. Spec’s call for 4.9 yards of concrete at 3000 psi. They also call for #3 rebar – top & bottom – on 12 inch centers. Whatever section it is use the recommended foundation specifications. I would recommend using the concrete base stub to attach to the tower legs. See page 10. The trouble with mixing your own cement is that there's *never* really enough. Do a 4 x 4 foot pad that's 5 feet deep and you've got lots of concrete.
