Witango-Talk: OT: Tango 2000/R:tango Licenses are needed.

2008-10-10 Thread Brian Mowers

This may be a bit off topic but still relevant to the Tango community.

I am looking for any unused Tango 2000 licenses. We are talking about
version 4.0 here. The last version of 4 I show is Version 4.05.047.

I will pay up to $300 for each.
R:tango 2000 licenses are OK as I use R:base in most applications.
First come first serve basis.
Please submit your name, email address and the stanza of the license
number (example -4D00) for verification. Email is below.

Thank you.

Sure been doing that for years. Mostly simple stuff like invoices and checks.
I will write a 'Quicken Import File' to disk. then import this into

 The help file from the quicken program on Importing is quite helpful.
Some of the newer quicken programs after 2005 do not import .Qif files anymore.

Re: Witango-Talk: is witango alive? Other IDE Prototyping and Porting systems.

2008-01-25 Thread Brian Mowers

Alan,
Have you heard of CodeCharge Studio? This Development Environment
allows you to do just that. You can rapidly develop an application
with their IDE then "port" over to the following languages:

All of the following:
ASP (VBScript), .NET (C#), .NET (VB), PHP, ColdFusion, Perl, Java
Servlets, JSP

It is stable, cheap and fast!
I use it to connect to R:base database and have built some small
projects. Most of my large apps are still in Tango4 and will be ported soon.

A lot of people have talked about how you can use witango to rapidly
prototype code, or rapidly develop web apps, and other people have
talked about how expensive it is to use witango.

I really like how witango has the ability to export as java and IMO it
seems like there might be a really good strategy here...

Imagine if the witango editor was a stand alone "dev studio" type app
where you could create and prototype things quickly then say "execute"
to fire up a limited witango server (like the lite or trial version)
to test your code right there as you were developing it.

When you were done developing, you could choose to export as Java,
PHP, CF, asp/asp.net, or whatever other languages may be popular at
the time.

Also available for sale was the servers that are sold now that could
run the native witango code (and maybe had some other pluses as to why
youd want to use it vs the exportable languages)

I'm not much of a business man, and don't know if this would be a good
model to go with, but it sounds like a neat idea to me

Web developers like us could buy the witango editor for maybe a couple
hundred dollars and write things quickly and export it to whatever
language our clients may want keeping us and our clients happy.

Then also, if we wanted a highly optomized witango specific server we
could buy that too for the clients who wanted to go that route.

Seems like it would help keep the community alive and get more
exposure to witango while also generating revenue.

But yeah, I'm no business expert and don't know With's current status
or business model :P

robust installations on 3 large scale servers. Granted it won't
support a

I would open a discussion with WT and see what is available to

obviously want to sell licenses and do work with people who are

You will have

I do hope that when version 6 is out in both Studio and Server

previous

You have to start by adding a 'Native Module' pointing to the
Witango DLL (Open IIS, click on your default site and from the list
of icons, double-click the 'Modules' icon. On the right you'll see a
link to add a 'Native Module')

Then you can add Handler Mappings (you want 'module mapping' - enter
the extension and pick the Witango module).

That went fine. But I'm getting a 503 error when I try to look at

Re: Witango-Talk: Bar Codes on the Fly No problem.

2007-03-19 Thread Brian Mowers

Mark,
I have been doing this for 3-4 years in Witango.

39 code on the fly no problem.

Here is an example of an IMG tag that I use that will do this.
Just place this IMG tag on your page and you are good to go.

SRC="http://www.barcodesinc.com/generator/image.php?code=MOWER-21332-332&style=421&type=C39&width=203&height=77&xres=1&font=3";>
You can specify Width,Barcode Type and style,height,Font and size and
some other things.

The 'MOWER-21332-332' in the tag is just some text from a
transaction. You can put anything in there that you want.

 The rest of the tag parms just set up the Barcode rendering image result.

Give it a whirl! It is free.
Hope this helps.

Here is the setup:

Server #1
Dell 1600SC (Single CPU) 1.25GB Ram 2800Mhz (192.168.1.102)
OS: Windows Server 3 Enterprise IIS6 (running)
Tango2000 (set up and running) Unique License #
Database :Rbase v6-7 (ODBC points to local C:\Database\Events.RB1 File)

Server #2
Dell 420SC (Single CPU) 1.25GB Ram 3200Mhz (192.168.1.104)
OS: Windows Server 3 Enterprise IIS6 (running)
Tango2000 (set up and running) Unique License #
Database :Rbase v6-7 (ODBC points to local C:\Database\Events.RB1 File)

 INI FILES:
T4Server.ini
VALIDHOSTS=192.168.1.102:192.168.1.104
T4Client.INI
 [t4iis.dll]
  TANGO_SERVER=192.168.1.102,18100:192.168.1.104,18100

The machines do in fact perform the load balancing. Ok fine to this point.
The main database is on Server #1. I want both machines to access the
database files on server #1.
When load balancing is in effect, the Server #2 tries to access its
own (local C:) database files. I can only set up Server #2 ODBC to
use its own local database files
and not the ones on server #1. No amount of Drive mapping, UNC file
mapping or other trickery seems to allow me to access (from ODBC) the
database files on Server #1
By the way, I can open the database files on server #1 all day long
from server #2 using the Rbase data manager and run queries, etc.

Well I am sure I am missing something obvious.

Basically what I want is to load balance the two Tango 2000 servers
so that if server #1 is busy server #2 could process a Tango2000 request.
I want to make sure that only the one database on server #1 is
accessed. I think this is possible. Isn't that how load balancing is
supposed to work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To all, (see attached _javascript_ Code)
Thanks to Alan Wolf for the link to get me started on detection of
Acrobat reader from a webpage.
I modified some js code to work with Witango (ver 2000). The script will
produce a variable

with the major version number. I needed this for a

Enjoy.

We are running Windows 2003 Server Enterprise version with R:Tango 2000
and everything is great.
This is the most reliable and fastest set up in the 4+ years running
various Tango products. I would never go back to NT 4.0 or Win 2000

products. I never have the server restarts that I had on the other OS's

running the exact same Tango Apps.

fine. Not as many user variables as the other gateways like Verisign,etc.
Paypal has its own system variables you can use here is the update

Update FilledCarts Set
ApprovalTime=<@CurrentTIME>,
ResponseMSG='<@ARG payment_status>',
EventDescription ='<@ARG item_name>',
ApprovalCode=,'<@ARG txn_id>',
ResultCode='<@ARG txn_type>',
PNREF=,'<@Arg payer_id>',
AVSData='<@ARG address_status>',
PaymentStatus='*Filled*-<@ARG payment_type>'  Where
AccountNum=<@Arg Custom> AND EventIDNum='<@ARG
item_number>'
 AND ThisTransDate=.#date AND TotalFeescharged=<@ARG

Of these you can use the <@ARG item_number> and <@ARG custom>
in your post to Paypal and those will be returned ad posted.
Paypal has pretty good Docs on their website regarding IPN.

this is a 4000.00 piece  of software (retail) that does clustering
for up to 8 machines and load balancing.
I had much trouble with Windows Advanced Server 2000 and R:tango 2000.
Never could get the tow to run happily.
 I loaded up Server 2003 using the default install and all works
great. Best Server OS I have ever tried.
I would say my Witango apps now work twice as fast as under NT 4,0 SP6.
(To be fair I boosted the RAM memory to 1.25 GB at the same
time).
The action pack subscription cost me 300.00 USD/year!

Steve,
Not a problem. I have one large app that runs all the

Some code to switch looks like this: (this one goes to another page if in

2003-01-17 Thread Brian Mowers

Dan,
One way to do this is with Adobe Acrobat (full product). You can send an
adobe form as an email attachment, it can be filled out and the actions
set to post to the URL of your choice. The user can not change the fields
in the Adobe form. Additional the user can make a nice printed copy of
his form.

Re: Witango-Talk: too many stations logged in. Time for upgrade.

2003-01-16 Thread Brian Mowers

AXRIX,
Ben is right on the money here. I had to obtain a 25 user version of
Oterro at one site. This was after I had already increased it to a 10
user version of Oterro. You can't open the R:base database with the
desktop product and the oterro product at the same time and expect them
to work. I believe the R:Tango 2000 has a single user version of Oterro.
This is single user as far as R:base is concerned. The Oterro will open
multiple database threads (instances) in its own right as need for web
purposes. You just can hit that same database with multiple instances of
R:base too.
Hope this helps,

the following in a method in a TCF file and call it from anywhere in your

Witango-Talk: Re: PDF variable substitution

2003-01-11 Thread Brian Mowers

I am trying to read in
a small PDF file that has some <@Var user$varname>'s in it into a
variable then replace the variables with the current value in tango as
read from a database. The <@var user$variables> are placed in the
'default value' of the PDF form field.
I can read the file into a variable fine and write it out to any file I
want fine. I was hoping for variable substitution to take place just
before I again write out the file (with a PDF extension).
Below is a snippet of the file with a <@var
User$CompanyName> variable that I am trying to substitute.

/BS << /W 2 /S /S >> /Ff 4194304 /DV (<@var
User$CompanyName>) /V (<@var User$CompanyName>) /AP << /N
49 0 R >> >> endobj 44 0 obj [ 43 0 R ] endobj 45 0 obj
<< /Fields [ 43 0 R ] /DR
It would be cool if this would work.
Thanks for pondering,
Brian.
T2000 .047 IIS NT 4.0

Then I would like to substitute the <@Var user$ variables>
for the real value.

No licensing problem.
When you store the code, don't sql encode , just store the <@ARG>
straight away into the database.
Pull the code out into the local var as you are doing
encoding="metahtml" and all.
I have had this code working for 3-4 years now. It displays a table and
form with imbedded <@Var's > in there. No problem.

witango code in the database and then select them for the appropriate

Im storing the code with encoding=sql so
it can handle quotes and other sql control characters within the

im selecting it into local$Rule and then
doing an <@var local$Rule encoding=metahtml> to get the code to
"run".

When i try to run it it just spits out
the code plaintext without parsing it.  When i look at it in the

Re: Witango-Talk: sort order in Search Action

YEP,
Bill in the 'order by Columns' right click and select
'Insert Meta Tag', then select from either "Form Field" or
"URL Argument" or "Variable"
These can be sort columns that the user has picked from your application
and are either <@ARGS or @@user/local$
types.
Probably easier to do a Direct DBMS and just write it all as one local
variable.
<@Assign local$SQL value='Select Column1,Column2,ColunmX from Table
Order By <@ARG Column> where ...'>
Then place @@local$SQL in the 'SQL' of the DirectDBMS.

Re: Witango-Talk: Tango/Javascript formhandler()

2002-10-23 Thread Brian Mowers

Place a 'Form handler' javascript into the tag as
follows:
<br>
// Update Form to Database After Each Form Change<br>
function formHandler() {<br>
document.forms[0].action=""<@CGI><@APPFILE>?_f=CustomerInfo&Update=Yes&Account=<@Column"
pending.Account>&<@UserReferenceArgument>"<br>
document.forms[0].method="POST"<br>
document.forms[0].submit();<br>
}<br>

In your input elements, Text,Select,Radio or what have you place the
formhandler call  i.e. formHandler()
See below example in a select object.

-Please Select Customer Pending
Items-
<@rows array=BidSelectArray>
@@local$BidSelectArray[<@currow>,2]
[@@local$BidselectArray[<@currow>,1]]
[@@local$BidSelectArray[<@currow>,3]/@@local$BidSelectArray[<@currow>,4]]

Perhaps, we can use the barter system. I really like your website graphic

I don't have the content done for one of them , but I can always fill
that in later. A fresh opening page with 5-7 menu items.
I know what looks good when I see it but I am not the artistic type.
Perhaps you can identify with this.

Re: Witango-Talk: Tango Sending Email...

2002-10-03 Thread Brian Mowers

David,
Can you send the mail from your own SMTP server? I have had problems with
my ISP (Comcast) and
now send the Witango mail via the built in SMTP server in IIS. I actually
create a file first and push that into the 'pickup' box for the SMTP
server. Works great, and is much, much faster than going through the
ISP.

spammers.
In these changes, they've also blocked me.  This has nothing to do

any blacklist or open-relay issues.  Yes... I'm sure.
Here's where it gets weird... my ISP is telling me that at the

normally,
that is followed by the name of the machine.  Tango is instead
sending
it's internal ip address which isn't owned by the ISP so they reject
the

Does that make sense to anyone?  So I guess my question is, why
doesn't
Tango send the machine name instead of it's ip?  And, obviously,
is

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Alan,
You will not be able to close the main browser window for the user,
however you can place the following in the screen that they would
normally exit from and this should allow you to purge

You would then have a statement or two that will purge User or other
vars:
<@PURGE Scope="User">
<@PURGE Scope="Local">
<@PURGE Scope="Domain">
Hope this helps,

Witango-Talk: RE:Change the color of a (.GIF) from within Witango?.

2002-09-26 Thread Brian Mowers

It is possible to change the color of a small .GIF graphic on the fly
from Witango?
I am building a module that allows the user to pick from a palate of
color themes. So far so good.
Along with this, I would like to be able to change the header and footer
retaining bars I have that are mono-color (.Gif) graphics.
Is there a way to use the plugin perhaps to call a command line or .DLL
that I can pass a new hex color and have it change
the color of the graphic? That would really add pizazz to any
site!

As far as I can see (having scanned the docs very briefly and fired off

This makes it very easy to integrate OWTChart with Tango (and
anything
else), but I see a potential for abuse... in that anyone, anywhere

execute that CGI from their server.  Obviously, any image on your

be pulled from an 'external' site, but this charting stuff runs a CGI,
and I
don't think I'd want to invite anyone to potentially DoS my server

Witango-Talk: IE browser share now 93% in 2002 (Off topic news)

2002-06-13 Thread Brian Mowers

I found this interesting for those worried about how much to code for
netscape (Mozilla).
This from the Associated Press :

Microsoft's Internet Explorer now has a global usage share among browsers
of 93 percent, up from 87 percent last year and 67 percent in 1999,
according to WebSideStory's StatMarket

Netscape's current share is less than 6 percent, with the remainder using
Opera and other browsers.
Mozilla may thrill some tech-savvy users, "but it's not going to make a
dent with the mainstream," said WebSideStory's Geoff Johnston, unless, that
is, AOL Time Warner puts major marketing muscle behind it.

AOL is using Mozilla in newer Netscape browsers, including the 7.0 version
now available as a preview release. The company is also testing Gecko, the
Mozilla component that displays content on a screen, for its flagship AOL
service, which now runs on Internet Explorer.

Sorry if this is off topic.

Re: Witango-Talk: Enter submits form

2002-06-12 Thread Brian Mowers

Dave,
Validate the form before the final submit action.You could set the
action='...' part of the form to run a javascript
function. In that function check to see if the required fields have been
filled out. If not, set the focus on the appropriate empty field. If they

are all filled out, change the form.action property to your desired url
and submit the form.
This way the form is checked if the user either hits enter or clicks the
submit button.

Maybe an onSubmit handler to
check the last key pressed or button clicked and the type of the object
in focus and return false if the Enter key was pressed on anything other
than a submit button. How would you get the last keystroke of click

Re: Witango-Talk: Re: Making a 6 Column Array from a 13 column array<@SOLUTION>.

2002-05-09 Thread Brian Mowers

  Re: Making a 6 Column Array from a 13 column array

Thanks to all who contributed with this solution.
I was able to create a 6 column Array out of a 13 column Array without
using the <@ARRAY> or <@ADDROWS> tags.
I also have turned the little six column array into a nifty Excel
spreadsheet that does mailing labels. Client was thrilled.

I used David Shelley's suggestion on transposing as the most efficient
solution.
His suggestion was:
"One way would be to transpose the array, delete rows 13,12,11,10,9 and 1,
then transpose the array back again."
For those who wondered why I wanted to tack on a <@CRLF> at the end of each
row.
The reason was to include the data into a spreadsheet.

Thanks also to Eric Weidl,Ben Johansen,Joanna Ruth Wirtz and Robert Garcia.

My very Best Regards to all,

Witango-Talk: Re: Making a 6 Column Array from a 13 column array.

2002-05-09 Thread Brian Mowers

I can't seem to make this one work. I want to create a new 6 column array
from a 13 column array in a results action.
I also want to tack on a <@CRLF> at the end of the new array.
Specifically I want columns 2,3,5,6,7,8 from the resultset array then I
want to tack on an extra <@CRLF> at the end of it.

Should be simple but this one is giving me fits.

I don't splice and dice arrays, I usually work with <@column>,<@Col Num=n> etc.
I have tried:
<@assign local$vSixColumns Value='<@ARRAY ROWS=<@NumRows> COLS=6
VALUE="@@MailArray[*,2] @@MailArray[*,3] @@MailArray[*,5] @@MailArray[*,6]
@@MailArray[*,7] @@MailArray[*,8]"> <@CRLF>'>

But all I get is a one column array.

Best regards,

Brian Mowers
