[xmail] SMTPGW and SMTPFWD
I am wondering if there is a way to tell if xmail is actually processing correctly via these tab files. I find that if I put gateway.isp.com as the outgoing mail server in Microsoft Outlook, I get mail delivered to gmail. If I put: gmail.com [tab] gateway.isp.com in SMPTFWD, or gmail.com [tab] @gateway.isp.com in SMTPGW The mail gets bounced. Same is true of aol.com and netzero.com. It seems to me the results should be the same. What am I missing? (I have SMPTAUTH set to login to the ISP.COM per the docs) JB Edmonds - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line unsubscribe xmail in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line help in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Doc says you can omit it (default to port 25) but I never tryed without = (to have all entries presented visualy the same, as I have some on no = standard port) For smtpgw.tab case I never used it. To be more precise I don't = remember why I used smtpFWD for single final server per domain as it seems smtpGW = and smtpFWD have same final effect in this case. Another try is to test smtpGW entry without the '@' ;-) (I don't know why it is necessary to put a '@' here. For a possible = unique file in future for gw or mx process style and to differentiate entries = type ?) If I have some time, I will test on each file with various syntaxes proposed. Thanks, I'll do some more testing this weekend. If SMTPFWD is working ok, I must have something configured incorrectly somewhere. I will try to post the bounce message. Duh! :) http://www.xmailserver.org/xmail-1.25-pre10.tar.gz http://www.xmailserver.org/xmail-1.25-pre10.win32bin.zip You very likely don't want to be using smtpgw.tab though, since it uses the explicit SMTP routing that not all MTAs seems to support correctly.=20 The smtpfwd.tab should be working correctly though. - Davide - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line unsubscribe xmail in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line help in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line unsubscribe xmail in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line help in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[xmail] Re: internet security statement
Will I need a 3rd party tool to be able to take some text and append to outbound mail files? I am not sure how to batch script this so that its inserted in the proper place in every email whether its an html email or plain text email. I do not even know how to code it to check. All the mail files of course are like 1178900912500.4564.2ac. SERVER1 only random. I want the statement to be in a text file. I have it ready and its called ISS.txt On 5/9/07, CLEMENT Francis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yes it's simple :) on xmail side :) And in 'theorie' on script side :)) The big process is to handle mime mails to insert the statement in good place : - On only plain text mails, end of mail is ok - On only html mails, the good place is just before the /body tag = if exist, or if no /body then before the /html tag, or if none of = the two is present, then end of mail is ok - If multipart mail, with the two formats at same time, then you need = to add your statement twice (the two rules above) to be sure that the = statement will be visible in any cases on final mua ... For the 'outbound' term, I said to place the filter script in = filters-in because local destinations don't pass the filters-out process. So if one user in domain xxx send a mail to a user in domain yyy on the = same xmail, only the filter-in is processed :) Of course if the xmail server only have ONE domain, then filters-out is = ok if you don't want the statement on 'in domain' mails.
