Hi, To create a custom Delivery failed you need to create a simple script to change the email, with filters.post-data.tab or other. It would be nice if I could change at least the first part of the message, best would be to use some template with special tags to include from/to addresses. If that is difficult, why not make XMail run a simple shell script with some arguments that creates a failure report? :) By the way, does XMail still show plain passwords in POP3 and CTRL logs? and is it possible to only show the encrypted/no password at all in the logs? Is a static IP in the xmail server? For ppl using Linux+NPTL, the best solution to avoid the 350 threads cap on 32 bit systems is to do a `ulimit -s 128` (I out it in the xmail startup script). The motive of this send is just to invite a join in a New Mailing Group, because the old group has canceled. Although, at 100 messages I would suggest using a mailing list instead so each one is sent out seperately, especially if they're all going to an external domain - the receiving server may have different restrictions. In my personal opinion, I agree with this. Anyone sending to more than 100 recipients, particularly on a Bcc field, is most probably spamming or doing something else crazy... Using a mailing list for that, is much more ideal, as only one message gets sent, and then expanded to the hordes. It also makes it easier for the recipient to decide on his receiving mail or not, rather than manually maintaining the list. If this is done automatically, then you should not be using outlook express at all... As to the destination server having other limits, as per RFC, the sending server must have the ability to take this into account, and batch send e-mail as per allowed limits. As far as I know, XMail does this, as I have never seen a problem with it, and I have one particular server, where for testing purposes, we enforce a simultaneous limit of only 2 e-mails. My take on this matter is, the more resources you allow to a user, the more they abuse it. Hence I actually have the X-Auth header on, to be able to track who did something stupid with their e-mail. If you don't like that policy, find another service.. .:) -- Best regards, Jornmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line unsubscribe xmail in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line help in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[xmail] Re: 'Too many recipients' and 'Mail server host name in greeting'
Sorry, my fault, i searched in the mailing archive, find the same question but without solution, and i have read the documentation, but only see server.tab, i did not remember command line options :-( I already have some functions to send individual emails in use, but some customers are need to send small text messages directly from a outlook express (for example) to 150 Bcc destinations. very thanks Ana On 8/15/06, Mike Harrington [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: 100 is the maximum amount of recipients by default that XMail allows on a message. Its possible change the limit of recipients? or is a RFC violation? if possible add new variable at server.tab in future version. b) I test my domain at www.dnsreport.com and receive the follow warning message: begin message * WARNING: One or more of your mailservers is claiming to be a host other than what it really is (the SMTP greeting should be a 3-digit code, followed by a space or a dash, then the host name). If your mailserver sends out E-mail using this domain in its EHLO or HELO, your E-mail might get blocked by anti-spam software. This is also a technical violation of RFC821 4.3 (and RFC2821 4.3.1). Note that the hostname given in the SMTP greeting should have an A record pointing back to the same server. Note that this one test may use a cached DNS record. mx1.mydomain.com claims to be non-existent host [EMAIL PROTECTED]: 220 [EMAIL PROTECTED] [XMail 1.22 ESMTP Server] service ready; Tue, 15 Aug 2006 03:37:30 -0300 end message * Its possible correct this using version 1.22 (configuration or other) or only a new version with correction is required? thanks Ana - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line unsubscribe xmail in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line help in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
