[xmail] Error processing

2004-08-02 Thread נור דאוד
Hello,

Did anyone write a Windows program to handle SMTP errors?
Such a program can be a plugin to XMAIL, or be run separately on a =
folder with messages, and identifies error messages, such as:

__

[<00>] XMail bounce: [EMAIL PROTECTED];Error=3D[550 Requested =
action not taken: mailbox unavailable]

[<01>] Error sending message [1091455761310.3216.6a39.xmail] from =
[mail.somedomain.test].

ID:
Mail From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Rcpt To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Server: [192.168.80.17]

[<02>] The reason of the delivery failure was:

550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
__

If such a message is found, this program would fetch the problematic =
E-mail Address and insert in into a text file, for instance, for a later =
processing. Or execute an external program along with this value.

Anyone know such a batch-processing program for XMAIL?

Thanks.

[xmail] error again

2004-11-29 Thread Spyros Tsiolis
Hello again people.

It's the same issue again.

The weird thing is that it did the same for an outgoing message from my
clients'
domain to my domain.

Anywhoo, I am running out of ideas and don't know what to do.
The only thing I know of is that it's v1.17 of xmail. But then again, up to
now,
I didn't have a reason to upgrade (if it ain't broke . . .).

TIA,

[xmail] Error messages

2006-11-12 Thread Rob Arends

Davide, in the case where xmail emits an error - **other than**
smail/smtp/filter/etc log files...
Where does Xmail write errors like "file missing on return from filter"??

I know in sendmail this is written to the maillog. In debug mode it might
write to screen, but that information is lost if not seen before it scrolls
off the screen.

I'm just thinking of Filip's bad filter and other possible situations where
Xmail cannot deliver the email - therefore it is not logged to the
individual log files -> there is no additional info available to the person
investigating, without perhaps running a JIT debugger or something.

Rob :-)

[xmail] error message

2002-10-11 Thread Newsmirror

Hi.

The past few days I occationally have gotten two different errors in my NT
application event log saying:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( XMail ) could not be found.
It contains the following insertion string(s): Invalid spool file

--or--

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( XMail ) could not be found.
It contains the following insertion string(s): LMAIL [01] error ( "Invalid spool file"
):
E:\mailroot\spool\local\10340276-001.203.gwyn.

I suspect these are caused by some filters/mproc I am testing, but it would
be nice to know exactly what's causing the errors. The latter one, I believe
are gone now though, atleast it haven't shown up anymore after I discovered tha
I couldn't drop a message into spool/local with MAIL FROM == RCPT TO
(an XMail feature or bug ;=)

The first excerpt I belive come from a filter giving a 100 exitcode after
modifying the message. What I do here is taking apart the message
+ some header mucking and then sticking the XMail spool specific
header back on top again. What's making it odd is that it only
happens about once or twice a day.

oh btw, I am running 1.10/NT4sp6

Anyone any clues ?!

/thomas.

As Davide said in response to one of my questions, you can use a generic
alias !!

As xmail first search for real accounts and then aliased accounts you can
use an alias "*" to pass messages to an mailbox.

In your case, (as an example) add this entry in the aliases.tab file :

"atomstroyexport"[TAB]"*"[TAB]"postmaster"[CRLF]
remplace postmaster with the mailbox you want receive 'no existing account'
messages.

Be carefull if others aliases are set for this domain !! i don't know
exactly (and tested yet) how xmail handles mix of normal aliases and
wildcards alias !!

Davide !! can you give us more infos on mixing aliases (wildcards and
normals at same time) ?

[xmail] Error 550 Invalid Recipient

2004-01-05 Thread TheBatchFile.Com
I keep getting this error when sending to a certain address, and do not find
it well documented.

Error 550 Invalid recipient.

I wish it were more clear. If the users address is not there it will say
that the mailbox is unavailabe so what does this mean?

1st) 'MAIL TO:' does not exist inside the SMTP RFC
2nd) The format is 'MAIL FROM:<...>' and 'RCPT TO:<...>'

[xmail] Error message in W2k Log

2004-04-15 Thread Sven Schmitt
Hello,

I just noticed that the eventlog in the W2k Server running XMail 1.17
is filled with "Filter Error (-121)" messages. It looks like every
email going through generates an error message like below:

Filter error (-121): Sender = "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" Recipient = "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
Filter = "chk-attch"

Has anybody an idea? Google had no infos about this.

[xmail] Error messages using [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2005-12-22 Thread Adrian Hicks

Hi all.

I've recently upgraded to 1.22.

Only one issue which is when XMail sends an error message. The sender of
the error message is [EMAIL PROTECTED], not [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have set the errors admin to [EMAIL PROTECTED] the same as in 1.17
which showed postmaster as the sender of error messages.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

[xmail] Error sending mail to xmail

2002-05-30 Thread R'twick Niceorgaw

Hi all,
Earlier I managed to send mail from external mail accounts to this a/c (
[EMAIL PROTECTED]) but now I can not. I'm getting a 551 error. I made
some configuration changes ( which I can not remember now) and I think this
is happening only after that.

any ideas ?
(The failure notice is enclosed below if that gives any clue).

Has anyone seen the following:

 * Send a message using Null Webmail to a yahoo account.
 * Open the message at Yahoo and hit the Reply button.

In the To: box, after the address, there is:

UNEXPECTED_DATA_AFTER_ADDRESS@.SYNTAX-ERROR

I tried sending to another account I have at aussiemail & the above
didn't appear.

[xmail] Error 417 Temporary delivery errors

2002-11-06 Thread Richard A Downing

I run xmail for my home network, but we are not on-line all the time. Th=
is=20
means that I get a '417 error' mailing to my box every time someone sends=
 a=20
mail and the server isn't on line. It's not a big problem since the mail=
=20
gets sent when the server is next connected.
But my question is: Is there a better way of configuring xmail to avoid t=
his? =20
I can easily send a 'ctrlclnt' (admin protocol) to turn something on and =
off=20
from my dial-up script. But what? Nothing in the documentation jumps ou=
t at=20
me.
By the way, I run Bind as a pure cacheing DNS - dunno if that matters.

Thanks in advance.

[xmail] Error -40... Invalid server address?

2003-02-10 Thread Scott

After upgrading to 1.12 over the weekend, today I'm getting bounced email
from all gems#.gov.bc.ca addresses (# = 1 to 8), but all other addresses are
fine. All complaining that its an invaild address, the MX records do exist.
Though gems#.gov.bc.ca doesn't resolve to an IP, but that shouldn't be an
issue and wasn't with the previous xmailserver (0.92?) that was running.

Any ideas as to what is wrong?

  Thanks

[xmail] Error in CTRL - uservars command

2003-06-08 Thread Michal Altair Valasek

Hello,

it seems to be little bug in CTRL protocol when listing user variables. =
When
I have user with some empty user variable, XMail will return its value =
as
quotes (") via uservars command of ctrl protocol. For example I have the
following user.tab:

"RealName" "Michal A. Val+AOEBYQ-ek"
"HomePage" ""
"Address" ""
"Telephone" ""
"MaxMBSize" "1"
"SmtpPerms" "MR"
"ReceiveEnable" "1"
"PopEnable" "1"
"X-WAI-DateCreated" "2003-06-01 15:37:28"
"X-WAI-AlternateEmail" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
"X-WAI-EnableWebAccess" "1"

When I will get vars via ctrl, it would return:

"RealName" "Michal A. Val+AOEBYQ-ek"
"HomePage" """
"Address" """
"Telephone" """
"MaxMBSize" "1"
"SmtpPerms" "MR"
"ReceiveEnable" "1"
"PopEnable" "1"
"X-WAI-DateCreated" "2003-06-01 15:37:28"

[xmail] Error sending mail to Sourceforge

2003-08-14 Thread Stephen Wilson

The following is an error I received from Sourceforge's mailing list
service. It would appear they do not like my configuration. I'm a little
confused as to how they are attempting to verify the sender. Also what
corrections do I need to make to be able to avoid this error?

I have checked the mailing list archive. The following post is the only

Which file can it not open?

[xmail] Error messages returned to sender replicated

2006-01-20 Thread Jeff Buehler

Hi everyone -

Running XMail 1.22 my users have been reporting that "No server found"
errors are coming back in duplicate. The mails all come in after "The
maximum number of delivery attempts has been reached" and the user
receives a separate email for each failed delivery attempt, rather than
one email containing all of the failures (which is the expected
behavior, right?). Right now I have XMail set to try 10 times, so there
seem to be 10 emails that are sent to notify the sender of the failure.
It was set to 40, and in that case the user was receiving 40 (or so)
emails. I have not verified that the number of returns is always
exactly the same as the retry setting, but it is at least somewhat close.

Has anyone seen this behavior? I am trying to verify if it is only my
Exchange users that have this problem - XMail is running on FreeBSD, but
a number of Exchange users send through it as shown:

Exchange -> ASSP (anti-spam proxy) ->XMail -> Internet - the problem
definitely happens with this flow

or

Email client -> ASSP -> XMail -> Internet - the problem has not been
verified yet with this flow

Thanks,
Jeff

[xmail] error 162 when adding a domain

2006-07-18 Thread Dave Henderson
 Gang,

I am setting up an xmail server for the first time. I looked for tutorials
on the homepage and found one
(http://www.ubaight.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=37). I get to the
part where I need to create additional domains using the CtrlClnt tool such as:

  CtrlClnt -s mail.domain.com -u username -p password domainadd
anotherdomain.com

  and get:

  ErrCode   = -162
ErrString = End of socket stream data

I searched through the forums about this issue, but people seemed to be
getting a 162 error when sending or receiving email, not when trying to setup
an additional domain. I have looked in the syslog without any luck. Any help
would greatly be appreciated.

  Thanks,
  Dave

[xmail] Error sending message with 553 5.7.1 code

2005-08-02 Thread Kevin Williams

I must be missing something here, but I don't see it. I have a mailing
list, and one member says they can't send to the list. XMail bounced the
message with this reason:

553 5.7.1 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender address rejected: not logged in

As I've never had this error before and I don't require SMTP auth for
members to send to the list, I'm stumped. If anyone has a suggestion, I
would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers,

Kevin

[xmail] Error in mail server or in DNS?

2008-10-12 Thread Vladimir Bibel
Hello, I have the following problem and I am not sure it is a question
of X-mail configuration or DNS server configuration.

Problem I am seeing is delivering to certain domains. In particular
@san.rr.com. When I try to connect to their mail server I get the
following error:

195.12.149.44 is a firewall address, 193.168.33.333 is my mailserver

 Many thanks for advice

[xmail] Error building xmailserver 1.11 on Solaris 8 Sparc

2003-03-30 Thread Mark Lavi

Hello:

I tried to look for a FAQ or a mailing list archive, but didn't see one.
Normally, a mailing list is my last resort, but with XMailServer, it
looks like it'll have to be nearly my first resort!

I am experienced in building servers, but I am new to XMail Server. I
began the install process after I uncompressed and untarred the source
code for XMailserver 1.11:

atarex# make -f Makefile.sso
c++  -O2 -I. -D__UNIX__ -D__SOLARIS__ -DXMAIL_SPARC -D_THREAD_SAFE=1
-D_REENTRANT=1 -c BuffSock.cpp

and so on...

c++  -O2 -I. -D__UNIX__ -D__SOLARIS__ -DXMAIL_SPARC -D_THREAD_SAFE=1
-D_REENTRANT=1 -c Base64Enc.cpp
gcc -o XMail BuffSock.o CTRLSvr.o DynDNS.o DNS.o DNSCache.o Errors.o
ExtAliases.o FINGSvr.o MailConfig.o MailSvr.o Maildir.o MailDomains.o
MD5.o MiscUtils.o LMAILSvr.o AliasDomain.o POP3GwLink.o POP3Svr.o
POP3Utils.o PSYNCSvr.o ResLocks.o SList.o SMAILSvr.o TabIndex.o
SMAILUtils.o SMTPSvr.o SMTPUtils.o ShBlocks.o StrUtils.o MessQueue.o
QueueUtils.o SvrUtils.o SysDep.o UsrMailList.o UsrAuth.o UsrUtils.o
Main.o Base64Enc.o -ldl -lsocket -lnsl -lpthread -lrt
Undefined first referenced
 symbol in file
__gxx_personality_v0BuffSock.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to XMail
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [XMail] Error 1

Is this a common problem? I'm unsure what library might resolve this
problem or what to do to diagnose this further. Thanks for any hellp you
can offer.

[xmail] Error reports rewrite (was part of Re: 1.25-pre16)

2007-06-19 Thread CLEMENT Francis
On a previous thread on error reports/bounce rewrite,
 I suggested a simple implementation :

Each time Xmail have to send a bounce/ndr/... it searchs for a text =
file in
a subdir (/errors/ ?) :
- if it found a ABC.txt file with ABC =3D=3D error code, use its =
content as
start
of the mail/error report
- if not, find a more generic file AB.txt (like 52.txt for 52x errors) =
and
if found , use its content as start of the mail/error report
- if not, find a more generic file A.txt (like 5.txt for 5xx errors) =
and if
found , use its content as start of the mail/error report
- if none is found, use a generic.txt file if exist as start of the
mail/error report
- if none found, use none :)
Finally append 'standard xmail' infos at bottom.

Simple and fast no ?

Future enhancements could be the use of macros in the text files to =
insert
original infos, like sender, receiver, real final, send host name or =
ip, ...
(use same macros as filters ? so little code to write ?)
