Good day Folks, I live in Poland (UE). I need to get 200 Motels (2cd) which is as you all well know long time out of print. It's impossible to buy in my country. I also couldn't find it in other regular internet shops I know. Can you tell or show me where can I buy one copy of this particular copy for reasonably price (the cheaper the better). Or perhaps some of you want to sell it. If someones offer would be fair I can send you a money (US dollars or euro) hidden in the envelope via post, as I don't have any pay pal thingie or suchies. I only have credit cards (but as I understand that's good for official shops me reckon). Or I can trade - for instance I could buy here some brand new other cd records you ask (not necessarily FZ) and send it out. Of course if only I could get the requested ones. Conehead has supplied me with audios from previous Zappathons off 2004 and 2005
and I'm awaiting the latest one too.
I wasn't aware that such annual thing exist till recently. I'd like to say I'm
very happy I can listen to such a fine radio program. Hearing Frank's music in
the way the program runs is a great experience for me and a fun too! I could
hear new moments in the songs!!! Looks like I have never listened to them
pateintly enough!!! what a shame :-)

Howdy Folks, Do you remember when some time ago video shows (in VCD format) were vined in here? It had two cd discs called The Torture Never Stops named as the Early Showand the other two discs were MTV which was the Late show. My dillema is that in Fact The Torture NS. despite of its subtitle (Early Show) is mostly from the late showor am I wrong?. I have a couple of versions of the Amougies festival, willhave to locate and listen to them, they are really great music, driving rock at its best. Zappa was reputedly in a very bad mood and did not enjoy the event, He was the appointed DJ. and everything went wrong. The film referred to was called Music Power (there were rumours that Polanski directed it, but I haven;t heard these for a number of years now). I have been trying to locate the film, not for the FZ content but the Floyd's and especially Soft Machine's contributions (Zappa hated the Soft Machine music by the way!). There was talk of a showing of Music Power in Toronto a few months back, but I lost the thread, again I have some print-outs about this if I can locate them. I've not come up with anything concrete, but am hoping to vine what I have on the Floyd group entitling it Where is the Amougies film? I have spent years looking for this. Howdy Folks, in the meaning that this list is not only into vining ;-) here's my proposal of a little thread to begin. First of all I know there's a site which says a bit about differences in between of both mixes for each and every particular realise, but maybe some of You guys/gals here and now would like to say if you do hear magnificent differences between mediums making one to search for vinyl transfers. I'm asking because I'm still looking for vinyl transfers of Zoot Alures, Z In New York, You are What You Is, Thing Fish as they're told to be significantly differentdo you really think so? With ZINY, I didn't find much sonic difference - just a difference with the added material on the CD. I didn't find much sonic difference with ZA either. I dunno, maybe my ears are not that critical... I have TF on vinyl, but I've never played it (always planned to digitize the LP's but never got around to it. YAWYI is said to be radically different - especially the EMI vinyl, but I never bothered to hunt that one down. In truth, after Frank went back and re-mastered the early works that he fixed for the Past Masters, the only release that continued to sound superior to me in the vinyl was Ruben. Again, a lot depends on how critically you listen - and, how good your ears are. My ears aint what they used to be... Dear Sofa, maybe I do not understand clearly enough what you are saying but all I can say is that I've just checked out all the past messages concerning Detroit 76 and 79 Flo Eddie vine history and all I could to find out is - that the discs White Rabbit got (if they are golden Benq cdrs as I made them) are the ones from Nick and White Rabbit was and still is the last person in the lineage. From the messages it looks like no one is after him awaiting these two particular shows. Hi Folks, at last I got the missing film I was rattling about, and promised to offer it to the wider audience. So here goes my offer - it's a 2 VCDs set 1. A Day With Frank Zappa - The Dutch documentary about FloEddie FZ era, with a lot of private footage from FZ Cucamonga place, including shots from live concert of Sanzini Bros plus many more. 2. Das Genie Frank Zappa - an Austrian ZDF TV posthumous documentary film (~45 mins) about life and music of FZ, with several guest appereances incl. Don Preston, JCBlack, George Duke, Keith Richards, Brian May, JLPonty... The film is very touching and sad in my oppinion, especially due to the some shooting from the very late days of Mister Zappa when he was rehersing with Ensemble Moderntearfull If you ain't seen it yet - it's a must. Hi, while visiting a friend of mine recently, he showed me a mystery to me two FZ videos (taken from internet spreadouts) One of them was a documentry about Flo Eddie era band with one venue footage with Dutch subtitles. Beside that there were Frank during the work (writing sheet notes for 200 motels ???) and many other things. A fascinating film, unfortunately the one my frined showed me was incomplete. The second one was the documentry entiteled in German Frank Genie or something like that, and was a sort of tribute movie in which other musicians were saying about FZ (inc. D.Preston, J.L.Ponty, K.Richards). There were many FZ shots from the whole of his musical carrer and was very interesting to me. Unfortunately that was also interupted. Do you know them, are they well known? Does anyone has it in VCD format, and perhaps would be willing to share it? Hi, I know quite a bit of Patton's output. To me his most interesting thing he took part in is Mr.Bungle. Beside that you can meet him at Faith No More, Fantomas, various John Zorn projects, Tomahawk, or just solo albums to name a few. Mr Bungle with its variousnes ranging from metal-funk-ska, through avantgarde, Morricone-like soundtracks, techno, trash metal to sleazy-smokey pop all mixed and fast changing in intensive musical kaleidoscope crazy drama -gives the listener quite an entertaining time. With all that variousnes Mr.Bungle can be appreciated somehow by FZ late 70-early 80-ies fans (I guess). There was a time in the ninenties I was very much under its spell. Recently when I gotten back to it I was not that much impressed, perhaps I'm getting older or just wasn't in a right mood for that. Anyway it's worth of checking out (imo). Damn I'm gonna give it a spin tonight!!! If curious start with their most ambitious Disco Volante then go for Mr.Bungle and then California...or the other way round. [Zappa-List] Just Another Band playing FZ
Howdy Folks!, after UMO Jazz Orchestra, I laid my sticky fingers on another curiosal disc. This time it is disc by the band called Omnibus Wind Ensemble Music by Frank Zappa label Opus 3 Records (from Sweden) This is Stereo / Multichannel Hybrid SACD and can be played on any standard cd player. So this is kinda audiophilac item. The band itself is from Sweden and consist of over 10 mambers who all play acoustic instruments like allsorts woodwinds, brass, and percussives. No guitar, electrics, nor rock drums! The tracklist: 1. Inca Roads 2. How Could I be Such a fool 3. Revised Music for a low budget orchestra 4. Let's make a water turn black 5. The black page no.2 6. No 7 7. Igor's boogie 8. Be-Bop Tango 9. Alien Orifice 10. Dog Breath Variations 11. Uncle Meat 12. Sinister Footwear, 2nd movement 13. Brown shoes don't make it 14. Peaches en regalia 15. M. Ravel's Bolero As the lineup indicates this is only acoustic music, sorta classical chamber approach, on rather softer and pleasant way of the articulation, without the rocky vamp. Some may find it a bit too polished or sweet, too delicate for Zappa likings (unlike Ensemble Modern which plays with proper amount of the balls -imo), tho overally it's not that weak as it may seems. Anyway it's on the lighter side, although the big part of the material itself is rather not lighthearted as you know. My overal impressions are rather satisfying, but far from enthusiasm. And yesterday in Warsaw was a special concert called An introduction to Zappa, which I couldn't make it. It was played by project band (of Grand Wazoo size, you know) called Low Budget Orchestra - Niskobudetowa Orkiestra. It was broadcasted by the national radio 1 and I could hear about 50 minutes of the show. They tried to play rather close to the original versions of selected Zappa tunes like Blessed Relief, I'm the Slime and Montana (with polish translated lyrics) or Peaches, to name a few. The whole show was longer but I don't know what was hapening later on. What I heard was quite alright, tho the vocalist was rather far from Frank's voice timbre...hehehe Unfortunately I haven't recorded it. That's all for now. Cheers Bart Yahoo!
