hope they re-release some cajual back catalogue, as happened with releif,
unfortunately i guess it also means more unscrupulous people on ebay are
going to be passing off re-relased cajual classics as out of print,
impossible to find rarities as they did with relief re-releases.

It just means a dance party...or a party where dancing is the main focus. So
UR doing a cabaret should not be surreal but great. It will give the out of
towners and others a chance to see a different part of Detroit as well which
is a good thing.
Cabaret, as I'm sure any 212 313er will tell you,
I've always thought a Caberet, in the Detroit tense, was an all night party
at a rental hall that doesnt have a license to sell liquor, so they get
around this by other means. Usually charging a huge cover and giving away
the booze or having patrons B.Y.O.B (bring your own bottle). It was a

I think Sean nailed the definition on the head a few posts
ago. Cabarets are popular among the older crowd in Detroit.
Rather than having to spend their Friday and Saturday nights
dancing with 18 year old kids at the club, they rent out
spaces throughout the city and create their own party.

After reading of Kevin Saunderson's conversion, it reminded me that I've
had a question about this technology.
I've always heard that one of the appeals of vinyl (for audiophiles in
particular) is the frequency response range; especially in the low end.
It's what purists have complained is
i'd use no compression .wavs or .aiff files just to make sure.
you'd need a big HD then tho
i've heard richie and john aquaviva use the system and you couldn't really
tell (in the club) when they were using vinyl and when they were using mp3s
(that's if they did use mp3s of course)
robin...
MP3s do cause sound quality deterioration. The way an MP3 compresses a
sound file is by eliminating certain frequencies and imitating those
frequencies using harmonics. MP3 compression is a lossy compression
format which means that it compresses by eliminating information.
If you take a CD,
My understanding of digital media formats vs. vinyl is that the digital
version will always be superior in audio content fidelity since records
cannot effectively duplicate all audio frequencies (especially stereo
effects). Digital formats can duplicate frequencies beyond what we can hear
and what
I think its also important to note that, no matter how good their sounds
systems are, clubs are not an environment for audiophiles. MP3s played via
Final Scratch undoubtedly lose something compared to the sound quality of an
original vinyl copy, but provided they're encoded at a decent rate I

Hmmm, I'm not sure about that... most digital formats actually have a
ceiling of 44.1Khz, and cannot store frequencies higher than that. At the

I would imagine that a large part of FS's appeal for Saunderson is that
he wouldn't need to carry a heavy box of records. As I understand,
Kevin has a bad knee and is unable to carry his own record box to gigs
anymore. A little laptop with the horsepower required for FS weighs about
4 to 5 lbs.

Cabaret, as I'm sure any 212 313er will tell you, is an evil word in NYC.
The lack of a cabaret license was used by the Giulani administration to
shut
down bars if the patrons were found dancing in the establishment. These
licenses were more difficult to acquire than liquor licenses. Crazy..
