We now have a gallery of the famous Belgian techno club Fuse online at
Technotourist.org. The pictures were taken last Saturday when Neil Landstrumm
was the headliner of the evening.
Go to http://www.technotourist.org and click gallery or for those with little
time on their hands:
No idea who he is but I recognise the pad sound on the track, it's official

hi folks. i've read the term, pad sound, from time to time on this

In synthesiser terminology, a pad is a sustained, warm, string-like sound
normally heard in long chords. Synthetic strings, basically...
Cheers,

I wondered what that meant - I've always read about lush pads in techno
reviews, especially of Detroit sh!t.
I hate the fact that many electronic music reviews assume you know all about
the technology involved in making the music.

The term comes from back in the day when we only had pianos, these of course
had felt pads that pressed against the pianos strings. Pressing down the
damper pedal moves the felt pad off the strings so they can ring.
On a synth, pressing the damper pedal extends the sustain portion of the

Has anyone done any sick Bjork remixes that could be used in

I hate to bring this up but i totally disagree with Rob, I think too many

Not being a producer or a DJ, I couldn't give two figs how something is made, I

Okay Rob - I apologise for being defensive. I like the techy speak in reviews,
but it is not for everyone you are right. These reviewers need to walk a fine
line here.
Really my point is slightly related though really about interviews. I do think
there should be more emphasis on the music and

No, you're not. But that would be best if Sound on Sound did the review. I
would like to know how some sounds are made only 'cause I'd like to make
something similar.

its definately a tricky line , writing about techno for those who know AND
those who don't . really hard to describe sounds that are often made just
to sound unlike anything else.

Speaking of LFO and Bjork and electro, I have always adored I Go
Humble, which is actually Shove Piggy Shove off LFO's Advance
album. I also recommend Plaid's Lilith with Bjork singing along.
I've used both with some success.
