I have a claude young mix tape from 8 or 9 years ago, and it was all smooth.
He didn't really do much cut up or scratching at all...
I think having the opportunity to see Claude Young spin live would be

I see it as using the skills you've got to add something different to the
mix, delivering the records in a new way (& in a way that most DJs can't.)
I appreciate the skill involved & enjoy the showmanship.
I just see it as musical masturbation, just like the old free jazz cats - ie
the only people who dig it are the players and the other wannabe players in the
audience, the rest of the crowd are scratching their heads waiting for someone
to play a tune.
