i am a fan of some of paul mac's releases, especially his 'authentic moment' 12
on fragmented, his last album on primate (surprisingly, for me), the fractured
releases (his more melodic forays) . . . just wondering if you experts out
there can tell me if his album 'old school pupil' is worth
I think they're all worth picking up, definitely - I haven't got the album,
but only cause I never found a copy - but the EPs are all excellent. A bit
harder / more minimal than my current tastes maybe, but all still very funky
and interesting... I think he's one of the most underrated DJs out
That album is definitely well worth picking up - I would describe it
generally as more melodic.
Might have to play it this evening actually, I haven't listened to it
for ages.

Yes,
Paul Mac is definitely a top producer in my mind. In
addition to what you mentioned check out his album
Push Came to Shove. It has a nice variety. Also On
Going Saga Ep on Immigrant You Realize is a sweet
melodic track.

Great record. Fragmented had some corkers... the Dan Curtin 'life in
the savage garden' has some BRILLIANT tracks, one with absolutely
Also don't forget the Jay Denham remix of The Cause - Black Window EP -
probably my favourite ever track from Jay, which is saying something ;-)
Does anyone know what happened to this label, or who was behind it?

that dan curtin is one of my very favorite curtin records. it's so so good.
even at the time it came out the tracks were pretty old, think it's pretty
early stuff from him.
the mg's are great too! rotating retrospective has a couple really funky-quirky
different takes on room 120-2 from
fragmented was a sublabel of kickin'. they had problems with money (what other
kind are there, snort) and folded.
and my bad, the jaime reade album is only a 3xLP, 12 tracks, i guess i really
dig 7 or 8 of them...
any opinions about blake baxter's dj capabilities?

Great tracks on the A-side.
the single track on side B is totally unusual and in my personal opinion
totally bad
I think the Rebound EP is a little bit better in total
Cheers, Arne
