Dear 313,
So, I was looking for something interesting to listen to a few days ago and was
really stuck. I needed advice which is why I turn to you.
I was actually on the list many years ago (around 2002-05, I think), I do
recognize some names who are still here.
Anyway, since my departure I'v
Both British Music Press and a lot of UK artists namecheck Detroit as
shorthand -- mentioning Detroit means you know your history, you're
'down,' you have some 'soul,' or at least you appreciate it. It goes
back to pre-Acid House times, with the Northern Soul movement.
On the one hand, soul is so

The rest of list looks pretty decent so far for me. Looks like a good
amount of house flavorings to go with the Techno, and that Basic
Channel sound might be enough for me to make the trip this year.

"bash dubstep" post. HOWEVER, the part that really bothered me (and

Cool that Shake posted a comment to the article acknowledging the funk.

The new Detroit? Really??? Try as they might, it's not happening.

I think it looks decent for sure. Larry Heard! I'm siked for Hudson
Mohawke too, DMC champion at age 14 (and I dig his records). I agree
that there isn't as much of C2 influence as I'd hoped, but maybe more
musical acts will be forthcoming (not that there's is a total lack

Definitely glad to see a good representation of Detroit artists, Chicago house
and the Chain Reaction/Rhythm & Sound camp. Although, this seems to lack the
Carl Craig imprint I was expecting. Not really complaining though!

As a young child growing up in Windsor, reading the writings of Friedrich

Love this post. Thanks Kent!
I think the list is looking better than the past couple of years. I for one
will be glad to head back for this based on this tentative list.
Peace,

this is NOT plastikman and instead such a huge disappointment, but
hardly surprising.
Yeah, as I said I liked most of the line-up, and didn't really want to
start a Hawtin-bshing thread. But I'm human and I have a weakness for
sniping at targets of opportunity.
Er, leaving Mr. H to one side for a mo, I think the rest of it looks better
than the last few. There seems a significant increase
in Detroit artists. Before people get on with finding fault with it, it seems
they've listened to a certain extent.

I'm hoping M500 live has happened enough times they won't trip up.
