I liked Vangelis and Kraftwerk growing up, but knew almost zero about
electronic stuff until I started buying more music in high shool..
I vaguely recall hearing that Clarence G was a local detroit rapper and
he was working w/ the Drexciyans on that release. So the two vocal
tracks featured Clarence G doing the rap stuff. I could be wrong though.

This Detroit Free Press article was definitely a bit of a surprise:

Based on previous years estimates, I'd have thought the numbers for this
year would've been much higher (41,000 paying attendees). Is the art of
crowd estimation
the thing with HB is that if you'd told me i'd be liking this
kinda thing a year ago i'd have looked at you sideways but it
seems to have the same kind of out of control/random sound
that acid house did when i first heard it.
Funny. I remember around 2001 when the first Dirty Criminalz
I first heard it about 5-6 years back when played by BMG at the Motor
Lounge.
I remember asking him about it briefly, and even back then he only knew
one or two other people that had copies. And this is in Detroit, so it
is a bit of a mystery where they all went.?.. BMG might know more. Or
maybe
There was a set of (4 I think??) cassette tapes by LD that have always
been floating around - very rare, few copies and I don't think they were
properly released on a label. But it sounds like this is what they're
talking about. An old roomate of mine had one of the tapes, but I've
never heard the
Someone was asking about Nu Groove a few months back on the Discogs
forums. Frankie Bones seemed to know what was up, and apparently it's
still alive but dormant it has new owners as of '96..

That would explain the Transmat, but I was in Japan last month and Cisco also
had brand spankin new reissues of the first Planet E Designer Music 12. They
were 2500 Yen (Around $25 US), and I assumed they were in line with the other
69 reissues. But I havent heard anything about the Designer
Lil Louis The World - I Called U
there was a 3 part release on epic, a couple duplicates of those on FFRR. There
a multiple versions/parts of that tune, and I'd imagine hawtin was playing one
of them.

Yep! It's on the B-side of Blackout... and another good phone
call
track is Why (Don't You Answer) by Cisco Ferrera, the first
release
on Fragile.
And that one is a cover of Eberhard Schoener. I think on the original Sting is
doing the vocals - correct?? I like the original better than
Def Harmonic on Altered Vibes, some very technoey synth moments on
their stuff - deeply pleasing, the track 'Doing The Best I Can' is
great, though some of their other tracks are marred by weak MCing
in
places. Altered Vibes is part of the Goya stable as far as I know,
but these people
out with a John Tejada and someone out west named Jason, i dont
remember
what his last name is. its comming out soon this year.
Ooh - could it be Jason Williams aka Velocette? Anybody know what ever
happenend to him the Parallel label? He had a few really nice records..

I don't think Force Inc has announced anything publicly, and supposedly they
were selling stuff on ebay because they were closing a warehouse or moving
warehosues or something..?. but rumors of financial troubles have been floating
around. If this is the case, hopefully they're not going down

the only belief i espoused is that no one here has the right to
condem the
man...i don't even know him, or buy his music, but damn does he
really owe
anyone to play in whatever city he lives in
I've been watching from the sidelines,

But what if he and others in his position could take it further
than that!

seminars, clubs (gasp!), and the development of new players in the
game.
Uh, yeah - he does all of this. It's called
I guess the things I just mentioned are integral parts of his
personalityand that might explain why he tries to make his label a
sought-after
commodity rather than being down with the locals. Drug-mongering
simpleminds are just not his thang as he was working hard enough
to transcend
I'm pretty sure those Club Classics 12s were put out by ZYX.
There is also the Music of John Carpenter on ZYX which has a version, may be
the same as the Club Classics one. There are also a few covers floating around-
