From Sheffield, it has to be Cabaret Voltaire, their BBQ's and Party's
influenced everyone here and for many it was the first time anyone had

Hrm... here in Cleveland I'd have to say Devo, they're the closest thing
to techno that's come from here and been influential (yeah, they're
actually from Akron, but it's close enough, mmm-kay?)
There were certainly other influential artists, such as Pere Ubu The
Dead Boys, but I don't think
Followed Devo all across the UK, wicked band live and they looked great
on stage.

but that's Ann Arbor ;)

Well, if you're going to include them, you need to mention Jake Mandell,
Mr. Projectile, Brad Kraft, etc... All those guys that got the IDM
scene going there a few years ago-- the band Triangle also came out of
that scene, though they're more on the twee thing these days. Cepia
