Merrick actually started up another label, Chalant, along with another
list...the vibe he had going on Tektite has effectively moved over to Chalant
but last I checked Tektite wasn't dead...just a holding pattern. He spins
regularly in Austin but
travels here and there.
As for Mad Monkey, the
Merrick is a great guy, and a good producer, who I don't think gets enough
time in his studio. The records on Tektite -- including Stewart Walker and
Fred Giannelli among others -- are all ace. AND his second label, Chalant
is wicked too.

absolutely blew me away last year, called Iron City. It's broken-beat
stuff primarily, but with a really sensitive ear for harmony
