Is this the total of all backups running or just one sessions?
When I make incrementals I see about 25-30MB/s per session running towards
an IBM Protectier but it scales almost perfectly with every extra session I
start so I can reach speeds of 250-300MB/s without any problems (did not

Dear team,
I have got only 100 GB/ hour for VMware image backup using LAN-free method.
Even though I have got 8 GB San switch port and 16 gb cache at v7000 storage.
Would it be usual speed for VMware image backup to TSM from proxy server ?

Friends,
VMware version 5.1 with SRM 5.1 (build 941848)
TSM Server 6.3.1.8
TSM for VMware 6.4.0.1
We have a twin-center VMware environment with SRM, where we have SRM
Placeholders in the other location.
On both locations TSM for VMware is used to backup ALL VM’s, except the
ones we exclude
According to the below link, there may be issues restoring a VM to a cluster
configured differently from my production cluster (e.g., a DR site).
Has anyone else experienced this?
If it is an outstanding issue, does anyone know of a workaround or a fix from
IBM?

You might be able to run the linux tsm client directly on the esx
server, to get guest os backups. However even if that did work, it
would be whole image backups (not file level), and you'd need to bring
down the virtual machine before running it's backup. I think the more
typical solution is to

Google vmbkup.pl this will make copies of the guest while up so you can back
them up with the tsm client.

Hi Nancy,
Jurjen is right: just look at the kernel version to identify the linux
version involved. The standard TSM-Client plays nicely with the ESX host.
To back up the ESX-guests, you can choose according to your needs:
running ESX-guests on NAS, you can snap the guests (very fast and very neat

So in that case. How do you count the CPUs then? By each virtuel CPU or

We are currently in the same process of trying to consolidate on VMWare.
We have a TSM client running succesfully on the Linux-Base of the Vmware
