20kw genset with transfer switch is 5k. don't know if this is a better
solution. I would venture to state that it would not be. Drop in a genset and
a small battery just to keep things up for the 2 minutes while the genset
starts.

Heh….2 minutes while the genset starts is a fantasy. Minimum is 4 hours
of battery so when the power goes out and the generator fails to start that you
have time to go to the shop, get a portable generator, drive to the site and
beat the standby generator into submission or hook up the p
Ya, not stating that generators don't start. We have had great luck with ours,
and yes we do have way more battery time than a few minutes, but still. I
guess to each his own ...

My generator "almost always" will start and run in 2 minutes. I just
realized that I did not do what I used to do with all the generators. I
would relocate the battery into the temp controlled building and put an aux
trickle charger on them. We need to do that with my latest central office.
What charger or BMU produced that?

It’s that ‘almost’ that drives me nuts. With over 100 sites and multiple
generators the odds of all of them starting all of the time are low. Yes we
do self tests (and sometimes even notice when they fail) but even then they
sometimes still manage to let us down.

My worry about the 30KW of batteries is a "what if"... It's basically
a monster electrical bomb... I fused them, but if something happens to
one of them in the rack, it isn't going to be pretty... Water is my
worry...

For an ILEC, the statutory requirement used to be 8 hours minimum battery
life. I think that is a reasonable amount if you have a generator or have a
portable that could be connected within the 8 hour limit.

I know ILECs with zero employees. The first ILEC I worked for had 2 employees.
The most recent one I worked for had 15 employees.

your paint on the dirt, or on top of the snow. How do you stick flags

Paint the snow. Flags in the snow. They can always call for a re-mark.

Some lenders will loan against purchase orders, I presume contracts would be
similar.
SBA just provides money to a local bank to give out. I have never used them
but I know others that had lousy credit and lousy business that got SBA loans
without difficulty.
Pretty much all those expenses
When I started my company in 1992, I had some large purchase orders from

Had to get them signed over to bank at first but after a few large orders,
the bank gave me a $100,000.00 credit line to get ramped up...Always paid

You gotta get a local bank, stick with it and get to know them and them get to

I have that, i worked with one of them, my current mortgage guy is even one

When we were doing some remodeling, I got a roll of this brown paper we
used to cover the floor, and also mask the walls in some situations. It was
darn cheap, and was a super-long roll. Maybe about 3' wide. Would cover the
bottom of a bird cage for years. Sturdier than newspaper too.
