Make sure you tell that to your wireless vendors. :-)

Faisal,
Thanks for the great explanation.
And I agree, that every sfp module seems to have a different “personality” in
terms of strength. We have seen this in a number of occasions with MM fiber. I
have been buying my

Let me see if I can try to clear up some confusion and help in sorting this out.
The optics, have TX and RX lasers... The TX will Transmit the Laser, and RX
will Receive the Signal.
You have the look at the MFG Specs to see what is the TX power and what is the
RX sensitivity

Typically you
Each SFP will have that range in their specifications. Most of the time it
will say it under minimum receive power.

I have a 1Gbps link working fine at -21dBm. About 4 miles using 20km
modules. The next pair, pretty much same distance is at -10dBm. So
something is obviously wrong with that first pair or a splice somewhere.
These modules (MikroTik's and the FiberStore equivalent) will unlock at
about -31.
Do you know the approx. route distance?
Was otdr shot on that line? Probably was by someone, but can you see if they
have record?
Or get a local crew to shoot it and tell you the details.
Do you remember what the SFP module was reporting?
I have a 40km laser link between two CCRs and it should
