Hallo Philip,
you might add xgmc to your linux sound homepage.
xgmc is the graphical QT-version of gmc.
It is a midi sequencer and player with hierarchical design and the ability to
play a mp3 synchronized with the midi. This enables you to design midi's from
mp3s which exact "sound" the same(exc
Hi there,
I don't know what the OSS mixer for the rme9652 is for, it appears I have
one too if I insert snd-mixer-oss and snd-pcm-oss.
I would encourage the following:
Use the CVS version of alsa since the 0.5.x hammerfall design is quite
different than current.
The RME9652 does not have a mix
Hi all!
I just finished installing the new RME Hammerfall in one of the studio's
Linux boxes. The install went fine and I managed to load the driver. The
problem is that I cannot get the mixer to have any "elements" (or
"elems" as the alsamixer calls them) which thus makes the card

I have no sound, even though i have adjusted and saved the mixer
settings.
Everythings appears to be fine, but without the actual sound part. There
are no debug statements about any errors that may have occurred
Does anyone have ANY ideas??

I've just installed the latest beta ALSA drivers, and I can't seem to
get esd to intercept sound streams. A `ps -A | grep esd` reveals that
it is in fact running, yet I can't play multiple sources simultaneously
and the GNOME esd-panel-applet shows no activity when sounds are
played. ARTS ha
Hi there !
I just installed Alsa and used alsaconf to configure it ...
Why isn't alsaconf mentioned anywhere on the alsa-project page ? Or
didn't i look well ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi,
I'm fairly new to Linux and x86 hardware in general so I'm probably
missing something really obvious but having played with it on and off
for a few months I still cannot get the alsa driver to work on my setup.
I've looked in the FAQ and the user list archives and although there are

Hi.
You might like to add GSMP (The General Sound Manipulation Program) to

Hi Takashi Iwai!
Now I tried it with the right command(% aplay -d2 test.wav) but it hangs and I
have to close the shell. During the hang my MD-recorder records because it
thinks there is a signal (the volume bar fo the MD-recorder says nothing so
the signal must be very silent). When I close t

Hi Mark,
I'm in the process of getting my RME Digi96/8 to work properly, so I
don't know about AES/EBU connections, but I reckon they're simply
parallel to the s/pdif's.

I have tried to install ALSA, but it doesn't work. The installation seemed

At least some of the tvcard kernel modules allow you to select whether the
tvcard should register as a OSS device.

I have an ABIT AU10 with an ABIT 5.1 surround sound speaker system,
connected together with the single umbilical cable. With the 0.9.x beta

Well this is really starting to bother me. After a recent recycle I've
noticed clicking at begining and ending of various app's playing
audio. I'm using current 0.9 version and two cards:
* i810
* delta44
This occurs under both cards and under native and oss apps. It does
NOT happen using alsaplay
Just tried giving alsa 0.5.12a a roll with kernel 2.5.3, and it
croaked in compiling:
ld -r -o ../modules/snd-mixer.o mixer.o mixer_lib.o
gcc -DALSA_BUILD -D__KERNEL__ -O2 -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=i686
-malign-functions=4 -DLINUX -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-poin
To beg for a brief explaination. There is one piece of this that is just
not computing for me. That is the definition of the trasfer table, specifically
this bit:
