I compiled ALSA 0.9+0beta10-5 (debian package) with Linux 2.4.18-pre9,
however when I try to load any alsa modules, I get:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.18-pre9/alsa/snd-rawmidi.o
depmod -e /lib/modules/2.4.18-pre9/alsa/snd-rawmidi.o gives:

What app did you use? You should first try with 'aplay' (comes with
alsa-utils package). In case aplay fails to parse the
Hi all,
I've just compiled the ALSA drivers/lib/utils for my P4 machine and
everything seems to have compiled fine. But, I'm able to adjust the
volume only through the headphone slider on the mixer ( and not the
master as it usually is), giving a degraded quality. Also, mpg123

this problem is caused by the ALSA driver or by the soundplayer.
Is it possible to play 24Bit/96kHz sounds by ALSA?
Thank you very much! Jan

Hello,
I'm using the opl3sa2 driver (0.9.0beta10) on a Toshiba laptop and I'm
getting sound when I 'cat file.wav > /dev/dsp', or 'cat file.wav | aplay',
but it only roughly resembles the original sound, plays it twice, and it
has a click at the end. These are short (i.e. <5 sec) files.

On my SuSE-7.3 I upgraded the Kernel to 2.4.17 using the plain
vanilla sources. Then I compiled as non root the alsa-drivers
0.5.12a without any errors! But, when I try to install these
alsa-drivers my systems complains with the following errors about
