I want to use alsa with my terratec dmx 6fire 24/96 for
multitrack-recording. I installed (suse 7.3)
alsa-driver-0.9.3c,
alsa-lib-0.9.3,
alsa-tools-0.9.3,
alsa-utils-0.9.3 and
alsa-oss-0.9.1
I recorded a sample with arecord test.wav
(Recording WAVE 'test.wav' : Unsigned 8 bit,
I have posted these reports before and gotten no responses.

Unfortunately I consistently get the same error msg.
I've tried every suggestion I've gotten, such as
changing my configure options, using touch and
many others, and I really want to thank everyone for

What are the VIA DXS controls? Where/how/why do I control them?
There is no option to set the output device on the configure dialog of
the xmms alsa outupt plugin.
hoe did you mean set the out put device for the alsa plugin?
There is one for the oss plugin. I changed the oss

They're in alsamixer. I haven't found that they make any difference on my
machine -- and if fact, as of 0.9.2, I suddenly have 4 of them whereas
I'm a enthusiastic Compilerman for the newest stable ALSA-driver
which is now Version 0.9.3c. It compiles absolutly without any
warnings -but- Oh shit, the new driver can't be loaded !

I'm using Debian woody. I didn't have any notable problems with getting
ALSA installed, apart from some minor annoyance caused by debconf and the
configure script using both via868 and via868a and not recognizing they
are the same, but I have loads of trouble with devices.

I just tried to install ALSA drivers for my new Audigy and I'm having a lot
of problems, yet again. The card is a new OEM Audigy with the new EMU10K2
chipset in which I believe is also in the Audigy 2. In other words this is

esp. Tinus and Moshe,
yea all 4 VIA DSX are turned up to 100% in alsa mixer, anmd always have
been, didn't notice their name before, just always made sure everything
was unmuted and turned up if possible.
