Does intel8x0 have integrated MIDI? If not, get a software synthesizer like
timidity++ together with the patches.

Hello,
I am having a bit of trouble getting MIDI to work on my sound card. I am
using alsa 0.9.4.
The problem is that everything seems to be in order, and yet I cannot
play midi files :-|

But are they supported by Alsa ??? :)

well, I went looking, and I didnt even have this file (thought i had
alsa-utils installed but guess I didnt). I installed it, then changed it to
192000, it still returns 'bad speed value'. Is it po

Hi,
I understand it's quite a pain to receive emails asking if this card or
another does work with Alsa, but I've not found any try on internet for this
card under linux (it's a relative new card, almost in France), just a thread
from Alsa developpers which are obvisouly testing this sound card in
Hi
I am a newbie under linux and I encountered a lot of problems with the sound.
I currently use Mandrake 9.1 (alsa 0.9rc8), my computer is a VAIO PCG FR 215E laptop (chip VIA 8233).
I always have the same matter:
if I launch kmid and try to play a *.mid file I have the message: /dev/sequence
I'm trying to get my new RME DSP card (pci interface and multiface) to run
on a Debian/unstable system. As alsa-tools is not packaged (yet?) I compiled
from source, which looked to my (unexperienced) eye as being successful.
But I always have to call hdsploader twice:
hdsploader

I was wondering about the relation of the global timer and the queue timer,
'cause I couldn't find a defintion of snd_queue_timer_t in the alsa-lib headers,
but finally found it in the sequence

Help would be appreciated with an irritating problem.
I have installed alsa-0.9.6 from source on a redhat 9 system. No
problems, except that on booting, the oss modules won't load, and I have
to load them manually (snd-mixer-oss, snd-pcm-oss, snd-seq-oss)to get
sound and set the mixer.
My modules

ok, so I was able to get it to work but was wondering why the help docs
list S24_LE as a valid format, but when I try to use it, I get:
arecord: set_params:809: Sample format not available
it seems to work fine with s32_le, though. this follows what erik said:
