snd_usb_audio module is used
this module supports the IR remote control, but with a patch
I can keep the current kernel,
But I've no answers for this questions :
- alsamixer don't see all outputs of the sound card. Only fronts
speakers work. How to enabl

I will try to use IR remote control provided by the Sound Blaster Live
24 bits USB External. I have some questions (I'm a beginner) :
- Does it works? (Do you have some links to help me?)
- Which alsa module is used for this sound card? (snd_emu10k1 or

i am trying to get sound blaster live to come alive and having no luck.
the hardware, other than the soundblaster live! card is an asus a7v600 with
onboard lan and adi 1980 ac97 compliant audio CODEC (which is turned off in
the bios setup). the cpu is a AMD 2500+.

This device file is not intended to be accessed directly. What are
you trying to do?

bottom line here is my problem i have a suse 9.0 system. I ran the YaST
update utility and got all the updates.
yast2-sound is version 2.8.10-58-i586
kernel is version 2.4.21-199-default
and i have not been able to get my rear speakers working, i have a

I've just installed kernel 2.6test9 with it's alsa emu10k1 driver. I've
got SB LIve! 5.1 and Creative Inspire 5.1 5100 connected to it. In
windows all works fine - when I play DVD movies with 5.1 sound, it works
great. When I play stereo movies/audio - it plays on four channels -
