Ubuntu has a special snd-hda-intel module in /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/ubuntu/media/snd-hda-intel. This module references are being mixed with the ones of the module you compiled. If you look carefully in the error messages in dmesg, you can see the confusion between the 2 modules. This modul

Hello Bill, thanks for the help. Well, my mistake on rc :). I've downloaded the .15 version again, and the install.sh was there, maybe I had a problem unpacking last time. So this time I've followed the instuctions, used the alsaconf from alsa-utils to configure my card, it detected the hda-intel.

Hello there! I have an acer travelmate 3260 using Ubuntu 7.10. When I first installed it, it did not recognized my sound chip, and I had to get latest alsa (I believe I used 1.0.13 at the time) compiled it, and after a few hours (I'm a complet dumb on linux, I just love it and use it :) ) I got it
