The number of "reuse" tapelist lines should equal the tapecycle value.
If there are less lines than tapecycle, Amanda will want new tapes

I found adding a "*" before a directory name totally stuffed things up.
I have things like:

I don't think I explained my question properly.
If a hard drive failed I would have to:
Format the new system drives
Install the operating system
Restore the registry settings
Restore network connections and passwords
Restore installed software
Restore user data

This will also prevent amdump when clients are not responding, which
could be more than what's wanted. This might be a little better:
amcheck -s configname && amdump configname
This just runs the server (includin

yes, Amanda can do that but you have to setup the Samba package first.

Hi,
since last week I've problems on one of our amanda clients. I got the

I have just installed another backup server here and am having problems with

tapetype only runs two tests, and you're now on the second one. There is a newer, faster version of tapetype available from the CVS tree. I think there's an entry in the FAQ-O-Matic on getting the code.

I talked with the people at Exabyte late yesterday and their opinion is that
the 'drive door sensor' might be faulty. That is why I get the door open bit

Hi,
I'm wondering about the time, how long tapetype runs. I used
tapetype on an OnStream ADR50 and it runs 41 hours and 19
minutes. OK, the manual says, that the process could take hours
or days. But which tests will come after the following output:

I'm looking for a FAQ or Howto describing how to use CRON to control
amanda backups. My problem is to prevent cron from execution if the
right tape has not been inserted. I don't have a tape changer. May be
the person responsible for changing the tape fell ill or for some
other reason (hol
