are you using amanda-2.4.1p1? if so, it looks like you haven't applied my
patches. see the amanda patches page.

I think you should rewind the tape.

Hello,
I am currently running Amanda on a RedHat 7 box and am tring to recove a
file.
When I run # amrecover DailySet the first time I receive the error:
AMRECOVER Version 2.4.2. Contacting server on linus.elyria.com ...
amrecover: Error connecting to server: Connection refused
and it looks as
>Does "sense error" means Media-Error, so the Media is destructive?
Maybe. It may also mean the drive just didn't feel like being nice to
you today.
I'd try:
* Rewinding and trying again.
* Retensioning the tape, if that's an option.
* Cleaning the drive.
* Going on a long vacation
I haven't used amrecover in a while. I used to be able to list file with
the ls command:
#my disklist file
cloudy1.com sda6default
sunny1.com dsa10 default
#running amrecover
[root@sunny1 dives]# amrecover -C daily -s sunny1.com -t sunny1.com -d
/dev/rmt/0cbn

I assume this is really just one line, right?
I don't see anything obviously wrong with this, so next we'll have

That doesn't make any sense. Please look at line 509 of amanda.h and
post what it now is after you applied the patch.

Hi,
I'm running amanda on RH6.2 with an Ecrix Autopak tape changer.
I kept a fairly basic setup and I'm using a slightly modified chg-zd-mtx

This group has been invaluable to me so far, and I thank everyone who has

After reviewing my preiovus post I realize now that I didn't actually state
the problem. :-)
The problem is that when I run amcheck I get this error:

You might want to look through the E-mail archives for the past month
or so. Jason Hollinden has been working on chg-zd-mtx lately.

First, find your index directory. Is there a directory in it named
"cloudy1.com"? Is there a directory in that directory named "sda6

"diskflush"? Do you mean amflush?

Actually, now that I think about it, that patch was for a connection
refused issue.
I asked before what was in /tmp/amanda/amidxtaped*debug. Please post

What's in /tmp/amanda/amindexd*debug on the server?
What does xinetd say about the service?

What groups is it a member of?
What are the modes and ownership on /dev/nst0?

Hello...
Try this:
rpm --rebuild http://people.redhat.com/teg/amanda-2.4.2p1-2.src.rpm
then rpm -Fvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/amanda*-2.4.2p1-2.i386.rpm
(notice the wildcard(*))
and possibly:
service xinetd restart
Do all your problems go away?
