No. It's fatal. It means one side of taper has died.
I think I've fixed most of these bugs with 2.4.2p2.

Uh, huh. On Solaris, at least, autoselect is death. No matter what
you try to do, it will pick wrong and really bad things start to happen.
We **always** force the issue with an explicit config file entry.

Hi, if multiple tapes are needed to complete all the disks in
one's disklist, is "taper: FATAL syncpipe_get: w: unexpected EOF"
on all but the last tape expected? Or does this imply an incorrect
tapetype setting?

Sorry. I just looked at the code and apparently it's in your log
directory and named amflush (no numeric suffix). Could you take a
look for that, please? It should have stuff that looks a lot like the
amdump.NN files.

Now you know why we're dumping dependency on mt in the next Amanda
release. Every vendor in the world generates a different output format
and parsing them is next to impossible.

You also want "record no".
And you'll want to save the curinfo database and restore it afterward.
Possibly the log.* files as well. And maybe tapelist, while you're at
it :-).

Hello,
Is there a way to run amdump on my current configuration without it

I think I need to do:
1) set tapedev to /dev/null
2) changerfile is already commented out
3) index=no
Is there more?

Hiho,
today, I decided to start new with my backups. I use NetBSD-1.5S and
an ADR50 from OnStream, Amanda Version 2.4.2. I took my disklist and
put as first step the files on the backupprocess which are the
biggest disks (or directories).

My guess would be the "Unknown tape drive type" is the cause of the problem.
The problem is that in between the "-> status" and the "-> loaded",
chg-manual is running the "mt status" command and hoping to find "ONLINE" in
its results. In my version of mt, ONLINE is one of the General Status Bits.
Hi. I'm trying to amlabel my Travan5 tape in my Linux 2.2.14-5.0
machine but i get: "insert tape into slot and press return" in a

Pressing return just repeats the message.
The exact command i'm using is:

This means you didn't rm config.cache before running configure, so
configure used info saved in config.cache from the last time you

I am planning to use Amanda to back up just one server.
Is it possible to run Amanda without inetd, or at least to bind only
to localhost.
I want as little as possible open ports to the outside world...

I don't think amanda was designed with such a goal in mind.
Here's a couple ideas to consider:
Idea 1:
It's too bad you're amanda server isn't on solaris, or another OS with
support for large files. I know the 2.4 kernel has support for large
files, but I'm not sure abou
