chg-zd-mtx, tape library, multiple tape drives, driveslot

2003-11-14 Thread Ron Snyder
Explanation: Our tape library has multiple LTO drives, we have multiple amanda configs, but all of the amanda configs are sharing a single database (all of the chg-zd-mtx.* files). Each amanda config (by name: dailyset, archive, tapemgr) is using it's own tape drive, and there is also a local dds

Do you have ipv6 enabled on your client? If so, you may want to check the archives for a resolution I posted recently regarding RH 7.2 w/ipv6 enabled. Long and short of was that upgrading xinetd to a more recent rpm fixed our problem. A symptom of this problem was the message you reported

amanda problems with xinetd and ipv6

I came across some of your posts in the amanda archives regarding the problem you're having and I think I might have a clue about it. We've been having the same problem recently, and I think it corresponds to our enabling ipv6 on the machine in question. The startup script (at least in redhat)

Title: Message I'm going to make a couple of guesses: 1) /home is a mount point (or at least a "disk" as far as amanda is concerned) 2) you're trying to restore into your own home directory If this is correct, then your original tar file will have files like: trevor/.bashrc

custom barcode labels

2001-04-23 Thread Ron Snyder
For those of you with tape changers and barcode readers: are any of you using any software to generate your own custom barcodes? It seems like it might be a bit nicer (for locating/moving tapes around) if the barcode label could match what the tape label has. I've only tried two pieces of

I'm in the midst of setting up my backup scheme using linux with LTO. I was going to post my tapetype definition to the list, but I searched the mailing list archive and found one that had been posted earlier. (Search for LTO, if you're interested in that one.) Here is what tapetype found about

Question: Can amanda work as a tape manager for machines that share a tape device (or tape library)? If that question is unclear, here is some more information that might help clarify: I am assuming that: 1) I can have a 4 tape drive library (a Qualstar TLS-88132) plugged in to a fibre switch
