I think that info is on the can in super tiny letters right next to the
Spanish, German, Italian and Boswanan ( Nothern dialect) translations.

It looks very much like a typical 1 KW Gates mod transformer except it is
about half the size.
There are only two markings on it : a patent # 2798202 and a part # E
C859 A.

But there is something downright ugly about this radio.

The final deck has a socket for a single tube with the
large, twist-lock base and 2 plate-cap-size
connections for plate and grid caps. Not many tubes
fit that description, so I am thinking maybe an 810
goes there? The Eimac tubes are out because they used
a pin for the grid--not a full-size plate

Yes, that is probably just polymerized grease.
Take either a hot air gun or even a propane torch and gently hear up the
shaft to melt the old grease.
Quickly displace the old molten grease out with WD40.
Then cool, wipe the area down and repack with fresh grease.

After much thought and fiddling around I finally had to surgically remove the
outer bakelite knob. The three screws that held the knob on could not be coaxed
out. This was an older model with only one set screw.
Once I had that removed I was able to wedge out the knob with some shim

Yeah well after buying more than a couple of big mod transformers with shorted
windings, the gold turned out to be lead.
I suppose you could ship even the big stuff through UPS. It would still be
cheaper than car rental and fuel.
By the way, I still have this Raytheon 2.5 KW mod transformer.

While looking through a stack of old Radio magazines I ran across an article
in the Dec 1939 issue.
The article described how ham radio was prominently featured in a Paramount
studios movie called Grand Jury Secrets.
A few of the seens shown in the magazine show some impressive transitters -

Hoping to find some old coils to the get this ancient Globe Champ on 80
Looking for :
two 80 MEL
one 80 BVL
Also, there is one other 5 pin coil bigger than the MEL as the driver for the
TZ40.
There are no letters to indicate what type it is.
Anyone know of a Bud catalog on line?
