I was able to meet up with Col. Wheelock as well - that was so cool! We
stood in a 20 MINUTE - not hour - line, and I was able to get his signature
on the boom of my Arrow antenna - the same antenna I worked him on last

I took my wife's and my QSL card from November QSO's, and the
Colonel signed those. When I told him I was "Tom from Grand Rapids..:,
he interrupted me and said, "You were the one that brought up Roger
Chaffee. Thank you for that". Whew. He remembers a lot of stuff. BTW, my
buddies watched

I agree that many people use too much power. But, remember it is not just
the output power that counts, it is also affected by the antenna gain. 10W
into a dipole is about the same in terms of effective radiated power as 1W
into a 12-13 dB gain Yagi.
