The short answer is yes ! It works very good. Every portable operation I've done was with an Arrow and SP-432-VDG and two HT's. One to transmit, one to receive. I ran the preamp off a spare HT battery, 9.6 volts. Worked just great. Also have done some portable operating with a Heathkit HW-
