Its interesting isn't it ? Before the launch there is usually all kinds of info
available ... telemetry decoding software, launch vehicle and window, developer
info including their website; often even enthusiastic youtube videos from
excited university students and a general hype in the amateur
Bit of a shame that the people in charge at NASA decide its worth flying an
accoustic guitar to the ISS so some astronaut can have his 5 minutes of fame,
but dont spend $ 2000 on a tiny FM repeater which 10.000+ hams worldwide would
enjoy in many years to come, let alone the educational impact.

good stuff. You are certainly right, a rotor, PC and computer based doppler
correction are all optional.
There is a certain thrill in working SO 50 with a 10 W HT and a hand held arrow
antenna, and pretty rewarding to.
But honestly, when you work AO-7 on SSB with your fully automated

didn't get modified then, you're out of luck as there are no more parts.
The change over point is somewhere in the 8G05 range.

a local UHF repeater. Just open the repeater without any preamps (neither

Is it just me, or did it look that crew did handle the satellite extremely
unprofessional ?
The removal of the Solar Array covers was pretty uncoordinated. They basically
just ripped them off. Once outside they let the satellite bounce around like a
basketball. For several minutes the satellite
Launch aborted ! One Antenna is missing ! They handle that thing like it is a
peace of garbage :( Way to rough !
