Just a guess, John, but the 40,000 difference could be users getting a new phone. You'd be counting them because of the Android Id, but Android Market is probably counting Google Accounts. It just reinforces the fact that if Google doesn't release the formula for counting stats, then they are

I'm not sure John. My main paid app (with a few thousand downloads) has maybe 3 times as many installs (because of piracy), so if the unauthorized channel thing were true, I would expect it to have maybe a 300% value instead of 94%... I suppose it could be counting when legit users copy to their o
