That seem to indicate that it is running, When it does run, it run for a
couple of minutes. The logs should have indicated that it was started. Check
with the listserv on the function being grayed out. Gene

I tried to do this but the "perform maintenance now" is grey and can't be
used. Does that give you a hint of what's wrong?

Would someone send an ARIEL test page to 128.104.61.48?
We're testing a new computer for Ariel use. Thanks,

You will find whether a document is color by looking in your Ariel "Send Queue"
in the "color" column between Pages and Page Size.
Hope that helps!

I'm not sure where I would find "C" or "G" but I looked under preferences
and the scan setting shows B & W for format not color. There is also
greyscale but I left it on B & W. Is that what you mean? Sorry to take
everyone's time like this.

Is this something I can check or is it an IT function? I asked IT if the
sending port was open and I was told everything was ok. Can I check the
firewalls and if so, how? Thanks.

As is always suggested when there's a problem,
You might check to see whether your out-going Ariel files are colored (C) or
grey (G) files.
Lately we've found the files that are either colored or grey take a longer time
to send, which means the sending often "times out".
If this is the issue the solution will be to find a way to convert the
Barb,
Open the Ariel.log file (found in your Ariel folder) in notepad, and scroll
near the bottom of the text. It should tell you what is happening. Gene

As is always suggested when there's a problem, are your firewalls set up

Barb,
If you are running Ariel 4.1.1, try running the Perform Maintenance Now, found
under Tools in the menu. Gene

I did shut down the ariel computer on Friday because there were campus wide
upgrades/installs to be done. But it only took a few minutes and I re-opened
ariel and it seemed fine. But I have contacted the IT folks and they don't
know what it could be. Of course since I don't speak their lingo I don'
Actually it wasn't obvious to me because I have never had to do it but one
of my students suggested it and I got out the settings from my predecessor
and it looked the same. The sending was on. Good thought though. I hope it
is simple too. Thanks so much. Is there another setting that could throw i
This might sound obvious, but have you checked the Settings? Things sometimes
get changed. Also, under Preferences you could check Send/Receive. Is Sending
on? We have found that it is usually something simple like this. I hope your
problem is simple, too!

When this happens to us, its usually because IT has done some sort of upgrade
and forgot that it often impacts our Ariel machine. Could that be the case?

I appreciate your responses. I have tried everything suggested to no avail.
I did try to restart the computer. I checked to make sure we didn't have
too many items in the send queue. I tried to manually "release" the item. I
checked my preferences to be sure they hadn't changed. Nothing sends. Keep
Have you tried restarting the computer? This always seems to clear out any

We have been scanning article on ariel all morning and none of them are
going out. The files say READY but 0 tries and no SENT. Anybody know what
that means and how to fix it? Thanks for any assistance. We've never had
this before.
