Hi
I'm going to stick my neck out and say not applicable.
I don't think it's not available as there are unavailable records and the
status for that.
And no answer doesn't fit with the whole attribute thing of the cmdb.
Kind regards
Danny

I don't normally do this, but I have to give big kudos to RRRChive. We just
performed a test data migration of around 3 million records, and without taking
anything away from migrator, it choked on this one. RRRChive came to the
rescue and performed magnificently.
Thanks Misi for this
I second this!

Look at the backend forms that the Table field in the Overview Console
queries. There are no indexes built on those so I added one to the forms
that pull HPD tickets (I forget the table name at the moment). That
increased the opening time of the Overview console for our HelpDesk
personnel. Indexes
If you are not able to do the new server method as Misi suggests then I would
do the following
Upgrade to ARS 6.3 (this will involve upgrading your license file, but that is
a simple process using the support web)
Upgrade to ARS 7.1
Upgrade to ARS 7.5 (or 7.6)
Each version has
I was able to upgrade successfully from 6.3 to 7.5 without too many issues.
The documentation for 7.5 states that the upgrade installer for 7.5 is
compatible to run against 6.3 and higher servers.

Multiple servers connecting to the same database is called “server groups”.
Documentation on setting those up is in the “Configuring server groups” section
of Chapter 6 in the BMC Remedy Action Request System 7.6.03 Configuration
I am betting on 64-bit support of ARS 7.5 as compared to ARS 5.0.1 which is
32-bit.
While there are performance improvements in AR System 7.5.00 (and even more in
AR System 7.6.0x), just wanted to clarify that 32-bit vs. 64-bit does not
necessarily lead to a performance increase unless you
Why not just stand up a 7.5 / 7.6.03 server and migrate your users and
groups.
Leave both systems up for 30 days, and then archive the old one, and do away
with it?
5.01 used older varchar for oracle, and clobs, and the migration seems
excessive for such an old system.

Hi Everyone,
We are running ARS 7.0.01 on Solaris with Mid-tier and want to try out
Remedy Web Services integration.
However I believe when our server was installed (a few years back) the
web-services plug-in was not installed.
Two Questions
1 - How can I confirm the web-service
I think there should be a reference to a Plugin in the ar.conf file for
something like libwebservices.

Hi Debra,
I can try to answer #1. To my understanding, if you do not see Web-Services
option in Admin tool (in same group as Filters, Forms, Active Links, Menus
etc), I dont think you have web-service plugin installed.
Thanks
Chintan.

If you have the line Plugin: {path_to_file}/libwebservice.so in your ar.conf
then the plugin is installed. There are no forms required for the plugin to
function.
To install the plugin do the following:
First Find the file libsebservice.so is on your system.
Second Add a line in
We are doing a uCMDB integration now, though it is being driven by the HP
team. I am told it is pretty plug and play.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the tip. I tried this process but got an error on a missing class
file for the plug-in startup.
In searching thru the jar files in the ar server bin area didn't find any with
this class or class path included.
Is it possible the file that contains this class would be

I'm trying to avoid a re-install if possible so as not to compromise the
existing system - prefer if there is an install option to add a
component without a complete re-install.

It is probably looking for websvc70.jar (since you are on ARS 7.0) and should
be defined on a ARF-Java-Class-Path line in the ar.conf. The file may be
there, just the line missing in the conf.
If you have the ar_install script look in it for ARF-Java-Class-Path. It
should tell you what

I did check the websvc70.jar file located in my server bin but this file does
not contain the class that is reported in the error.
Also I don't have any of the settings or files you mention below

Debra,
There is a KB article @ bmc support that walks through the manual install of
web services by mod to the ar.conf or the alternative is to re-run the server
install choosing to add only the web services component.

We have a complex application in place and yes its home grown system. I
think we can go with straight upgrade if needed after we try the migration
idea given by Misi on development server.

Hi,
You may very well be able to use the old binaries against the new version.
If you recompile your C-programs, you may need to do a few changes. The
control-struct has been expanded some, and a few API-calls has new
parameters where you will typically put a NULL or a 0 (zero) depending on
