Thanks, everyone, yes, I'm familiar with RBE, but no, we're not using it
(if I remember, it wasn't quite mature enough yet or didn't work with
all modules. I need to revisit its capabilities).

This is related to RBE - Rule Based Engine.
It can potentially create and update SRM, WO, HPD, CHG and PBM.
This is creating or updating the ticket based on input email and not related to

That's as in REMEDY.ARF.HTML2TEXT, so I know that it's a filter plugin,
but if the server can't connect to this plugin, what functionality can I
expect to have lost?

William,
It feels like what you are seeing is not a VM vs. physical issue, but an issue
about how FTS works and the
requirements about configuration to allow scaling and proper behavior.
FTS is very FILE SYSTEM intensive. All the indexing of the files and the
searching of the indexes is file

My wish is that BMC could look at the applications you own and allow you to
click on everything you want to patch/upgrade and then click on another link
and have it give you an install package that is specific to you
Thanks for the info. I am going to shoot for getting VM's I can then start
clustering and build a decent environment without the need to go back through
hardware-justification-hoops. Perhaps the cost savings will get me a trip to

Are you guys who are running VM's using Full Text Search?
We've never really gotten that working. We always had the same issue - we'd
index stuff, it would work, and the indexes would get corrupted within a few
days.
BMC wanted us to go to independent physical drives but we have all VM's. We

With all the caveats about making sure you are correctly configuring your VMs

Be careful of the network set up for virtual environment. Snapshot backups
are running on a different vlan. You don't want snapshots or vmotion
bringing down your ARS. Veritas has been problematic for us. I would
contact bmc.

Hi Folks,
John Baker was kind enough to let me know that the script I posted had some
potential security vulnerabilities. He provided the following alternative:

Hi
Running 8.1.02 ITSM (Asset and SD) on virtual server. Also mid.tier on own
server. No issues so far, and I does not think there will be any either.
Running Win 2008 R2 and Oracle 12C

Tommy,
I'm not running full ITSM, but I've been running fully virtual
App/Mid-Tier/DB for many years with little to no adverse affects. I know
others in the community have had issues with VM, but I can tell you, that
if the VM is run on the right hardware, and properly maintained, and not
overload
Just wondering how many are running the current ARS, CMDB, ITSM on VM's. My
current hardware is at end of life and I need justification to purchase a new
server. Our mid-tiers are running VM with no problem of course but I am
concerned about the stability and performance of running ARS and CMDB
It’s funny, because I’ve had contractors disable it because they didn’t like it
and such. It works ok for version control but it is a bit cumbersome (version
control is in general.) It is fairly effective though once you learn how to
use the back end Remedy forms that do things like who has wh
