Dave, something tells me that this is directly related to the change from C
to Java, but, for compatibility sake, you should stand-up a quick Tomcat
and Mid-Tier (not hard), even locally on your machine, just to check if the
newer client takes care of the problem, if so, you may be looking at a bit
Re-licensing the server does fix the issue so there is a simple solution. But I
agree with your statement about the difference in how Java vs C is
returning/validating the MAC address. Again, we have been fine with the same
license keys for 2+ years.
Appreciate all of the feedback!

I am not ware of the MAC address being hard coded.

Is this a system where the hardware people had to “override” or “clone” the MAC
address?

Frank, are there multiple NIC's in the machine? I 100% agree that the host
id should not change on an upgrade, but 8.x and 9.1 use different code
bases c/java, so it's possible that Java is making the equivalent call to
the OS but getting a different value if there are multiple host idsthe

Dave,
it’s normal behavior of an oracle database to not release any space if you
delete records. It’s also not an issue specific to LOBs. But there are ddl
commands to reorganize the table online to reclaim “wasted” space.
alter table T63 enable row movement;
alter table T63 shrink space cascad
My understanding is that the license key and the host id is store on the
DB. If you are upgrading, whether or not you are upgrading on the same host
server or different, the store DB value will be taken over(updated) with
newest value of the MAC at the moment you launch the server license form.

I understand the MAC "could" change but the history of this server is that it
has had the same license key (therefore MAC) for the last two years. It was
only when the ARS 9.1 upgrade was run did the hostid change. When I checked
BMCs web site I can find the original license key and host id and
Upgrade of itsm on top of AR should not change host id. Remedy doesn't make
changes or touches host I'd during installation.
If upgrade should have changed the host id then that should have got
changed during AR upgrade only which I believe must have not happened.

Remember that the Host ID is based on the MAC address of the primary NIC on
your AR Server. If your server environment has changed, or if it has
multiple NICs, this could be the source of the issue.

We are in the process of upgrading our ITSM 81.02 environment to ITSM 9.1.
After the ARS portion of the upgrade we are noticing that the HostID used for
licensing changes. This is an upgrade in place and some for the servers have
been around for more 2 years with the same license key. The arerr
Doug,
Much appreciated; don't recall having seen the / (or \) reference before.
The archiving option is working perfectly.
