Dan:
So this may become a legal issue. I would definitely take a stab at the backup tape and see what happens. I do know that Oracle is really picky about the way that you did the backup. However, I have cold backed up and restored out of Oracle using

It is also a nice way to bring your dev environment up-to-date. If it were not for this, I would definitely agree. I would recreate that one action, unless you have a really good legal reason. Having had to recreate over 200 actions due

I do have a dev system.
The one ticket in question was for a
change control so they are worried about an audit, and yes I would love to just
re-create this ticket.
I’ll give a try at restoring the
database.

Personally, I would go over to the development server, take a backup and
kick it in the head. Load your backup database over there and bring the

For one ticket? I mean, 1 out of how many
thousand per month? Is anyone going to miss 1 ticket? I think that the most I
would do is retype the thing. If I wanted to be really clever I would create
an import record by hand and then import it, which

That is exactly WHAT I DID, when I dumped the entire history for a form. Not fun and it took a long time. Backups are a GOOD THING. Also, doing ARXports of form data is crucial for something like this.

Do you have a development machine or a machine where you can throw the database backup onto?

Personally, I would go over to the development server, take a backup and
kick it in the head. Load your backup database over there and bring the AR
System server up. Go into the UT, locate the record in question and export
it to an ARX. Once done, you can use the ARImport tool to import the
record

Since it’s so slow here I have a
question.
I’m trying to restore a help desk
record that somehow got deleted.
What would the best way to do this?
I do have a copy of an earlier back-up of
the database.
Windows Server, SLQ 2000, AR Server 6.03
