[AsburyPark] Paid parking on 1st Ave. is a complete failure with an unexpected consequence

2011-06-23 Thread Hinge
If you go down to the 200 block of 1st Ave any day this week and last weekend, what you'll now see is a block of empty, unused parking spaces. And on Sat and Sunday, my predictions were 100% correct. All the 1st Ave. spaces were empty and available, and Bergh was packed wall to wall from AP Ave

I noticed how empty your block was last weekend. However, I have a different perspective. 2nd Ave on the 200 block was always packed with residents as well as the visitors who didn't want to pay and didn't have a problem walking one short block. Now that the metered parking is in place, the

Believe me I am no picking on you but WTF? You don't like it when visitors park by your house and take up all the spots and also don't like it when they made the spots metered? Seems like it worked out for you and now you have your choice of spots. What is the right amount of cars parked on

I hear what you are saying but you are missing my point. When there was no paid parking on my block, people who didn't want to pay to park by the bw used my block thus forcing us residents to park a block or more away from our homes. Now, these same people are avoiding the new pay parking

Yeah, I took my chances parking out front this weekend because I had a carload of heavy musical equipment. I'm sorry if I'm bothering anybody by bring up this issue again. I simply feel like the plan was poorly thought out, and poorly executed. This summer, the city missed out on making revenue

Would you not be frustrated if you were living where I do? I'm not alone in my frustration with this. The people on my block echo my sentiments completely. All that has been accomplished is to make my street a ghost town while the next block over now gets to experience the same thing we have

I'll give it a chance, but I'd be willing to bet that the only times those spaces will see any bonefide paid activity is during the handful of SP outdoor shows. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, dfsavgny dfsavgny@... wrote: --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, Hinge hinge98@ wrote:

Well who else would park there except visitors? There are not that many residents on the block so it has to be outsiders? So let them walk the extra block if they want to. The only solution I see that would make you happy is to give you the permit for free. I would gladly pay $30 a year for no

Well, I'm the only person on my block that I know of who's a member of this group besides the other person who just posted, and I just want to say that everybody I encounter on my block shares the same observation, so even though I'm the lone voice here that's not the case in the real world.
