For anyone who's interested, today on www.woot.com their deal of the day is a
four camera infrared surveillance system for $149. You can even see what's
going on via the internet or a mobile phone if you're not home. Thought it
might be interesting for those who are worries about security.

You ever wonder why people rob banks (not the white collar bank robbers) - the

Good point, although my gut feeling is the AP criminal element probably doesn't
visit here.

It won't hurt. You might want to stage a vigil of sorts, like a
watch evening. Secure everything you can and just stage a watch
night with cell phone for 911, flashlights with a large beam; things like that.
I don't encourage gun use, but in your situation, I wouldn't blame you for

Motion lights would scare the bejesus out of the little hellions!
I had them installed on all four corners of our house, when all but
one of the kids had left home. My youngest daughter saw someone
looking in her room, while we were out one night, but our German
Shepherd didn't bark! Police
We actually have motion sensor lights on both sides of the house and in this
case it did nothing to stop them. And this took place at around 9 pm. We're
going to put up security system signs and maybe add

Security system was my first improvement when I bought. It is actually not that
expensive and about $23/month to monitor. Also, I think you can buy the
non-monitored kind pretty cheaply. Makes a loud noise at least!

I don't give them the right code or answer the phone fast enough, police

Thanks for the info. Since I rent I couldn't do this without my landlord
getting involved, and my gut feeling is he wouldn't be willing to pay for the
installation, so I'm going to try the passive route starting with signs and see
what happens.

That is so scary!!! I had my alarm go off in the middle of the night and it
scared the crap out of me. I am so happy I have back up- Hobie the big dog! But
be thankful someone called the cops. That is the #1 thing. Just like the
slogan: if you see something, say something.
