If you are talking about the constant percentage updates in the TeamTalk program, there's a setting in TT to stop this. It's called Enable VU-meter updates just uncheck that.

Foobar2000 is best, but you have to set up the keyboard shortcuts yourself. Don't worry it's not like most applications, it's an accessible process. I'd use control up/down/left/right for volume/seaking in files.
