I believe 88kHz and 96kHz support is possible with the current hardware,
it is a matter of upgrading the firmware to support it. There is an
FR/bug on this apparently.

This supply is NOT SUITABLE for use with an SB3 as it is rated at

I don't believe this is correct. Even on the Slimdevices home page re
SB3 specs...
The minimum is indeed specified at 1000ma (1amp) but it is considered
good engineering practice to double the specification to take account
of production tolerances, heat and types of use. The stock wall-wart
states 5v @ 2amps on the attached sticker which sort of gives a hint of

Has anyone purchased a Yamaha MCX-CA15 as a stand-alone in-wall
amplifier to partner the Squeezebox? I want a remote solution of a
Squeezebox and speakers in my kitchen. Needs to be in-ceiling or
in-wall as I don't want the speakers visible.
The blurb for the CA15 says it can power-amp to 17w
Firstly measured using a Powermeter:

This was obviously the 'other' side of the SB3, i.e. how much mains
current was being drawn by the PSU + SB3. It showed 5/6 watts, 0.04
amps, 9VA, PF of 0.61 at 240v.
Second
How do I go about upgrading the firmware?
Thing is, I've tried out a 24/96 recording and my Lavry DAC still locks
at 44.1 (the lovely thing actually tells you what signal it is
getting).
Don't get me wrong -- the sound is terrific and is a definite
improvement over the SB3. Being a pro audio
Well, it's interesting because I can't get my SB2 wireless to draw more
than about 950mA under any condition. Display fully bright (with a lot
of activity,) lowish impedance headphones hooked up (turned up full,)
digital output feeding another device and loaded correctly (not sure
why that would

I will recheck using a different meter - this time digital, calibrated
and made by Fluke. Last readings were using an old analogue meter as it
was to hand and I hadn't anticipated publishing the data!

Just spoke to Kevin -- what a champ. There are no plans to upgrade the
firmware for greater rates. In fact, the reason my 24/96 files come
out as 44.1 is that the SB doesn't even recognize the file. This will
not change in the forseeable future.
I can see there point. There are not a lot of
Well, I hope you guys are right about the benefits of these wall warts.
I just ordered the Elpac WM075-1950-760 from Allied Electronics. I'm
using the coaxial output. I'll post an opinion in this thread after I
give it a listen.

So David, which PS are you running?
(your link seems to go to RS home page, not a specific PSupply)
Thanks,

The SB3 obviously has much higher jitter or noise on it's Spdif output

Not necessarily true, and in fact I think wrong. The difference could

Depends on which of SB3's digital output you use. From the Tact forum:
