I think that your average PC could handle several SB clients with no degredation in performance. Each file is decompressed and then streamed into the SB. This requires little processing power and seems to require little RAM (watch your Windows task list while clicking play!). I think the real

After changing the FLAC settings there is a clear difference in my setup through the digital output from the Squeezebox. [Lavry Black DA10, AKG K340 and Grado HF-1 headphones] Everything is less strained and more natural sounding. I had a friend over yesterday and he picked up on it right away

Out of curiosity, how are you guys A/B comparing the two? Is there any way to do it through the remote? I can't seem to change the setting w/o walking to the other room and using the web interface. I still think I hear a difference, even after switching to a $30 Sonic Impact amp (with fostex

There is only one real way to test all of your theories. Hook up another PC to the coax output of your squeezebox, with something like the digital input on a soundblaster audigy, or similar device. set a recoder to start on audio start, and digitaly record the output of the squeezebox. Then do

I've been searching for a nice pair of active monitors to go with my computer for a while. My bias is towards budget pro audio equipment. My short list is: Tapco S5's (~£230) http://www.tapcoworld.com/products/s5/index.html * They've had quite a few good reviews such as:
