I have an A5 with Gale speakers of a similar price range to your
Morduant Shorts. The SB3 sounds fantastic in this setup.
No doubt you could multiply the cost and improve it all, but I can
definitely vouch for the sound quality at this level. Discussions of
budget amps usually bring up the
yea the A5 for £119 seems like a good buy, the Mordaunts are £149 but I
might go for some longs.. anything else I need to complete the setup

I think that your average PC could handle several SB clients with no
degredation in performance. Each file is decompressed and then
streamed into the SB. This requires little processing power and seems

After changing the FLAC settings there is a clear difference in my setup

natural sounding. I had a friend over yesterday and he picked up on it

Out of curiosity, how are you guys A/B comparing the two? Is there any
way to do it through the remote? I can't seem to change the setting w/o
walking to the other room and using the web interface.
I still think I hear a difference, even after switching to a $30 Sonic

For the speaker test, I had to walk into the other room, make the

I actually thought of a somewhat blind method for the listening area
test.
I went to the File Types screen, placed the mouse over the FlacFlac

There is only one real way to test all of your theories.
Hook up another PC to the coax output of your squeezebox, with
something like the digital input on a soundblaster audigy, or similar

Thanks for posting your results.
There have been many times I was sure I could hear a difference in
something, so sure I was quite confident I could do it in a blind
test... only to try it and be wrong :-).
So at least for
