I'm planning integrating a remote PC into my audio system which
currently consists of SimAudio i5 integrated, SimAudio Nova CDP and
Revel M20 speakers.
So I'm almost decided getting SB3 (MediaBox MB200 is the only unit that
still holds me) and I'll need a DAC.
I'm considering Benchmark DAC1,
Audio Note is one to consider. 1.1 used is in the benchmark pricerange.

Hi
Anyone using the Bel Canto Dac2 with the Squeezebox?
I wondered how this Dac competes against the Benchmark Dac1 and others
these days?
Regards
Jack.

The head-fi'ers were ga-ga over the Zhaolu when it came out. Has the
clamor died down somewhat? It's not really all that special, but it is
cheap.

Hi Jack,
I've been using the Bel Canto 2, using the Toslink feed. I have not
heard the Benchmark, so can't give you much comparison there. But, I
like the Bel Canto very much. Nice detail and a good warm tone. I
don't believe its technology is state-of-the-art these days, but I
found it used

Yeah, it was a 'flavor of the month'. The 2.0 is out* and as one
Headfier put it the hype machine is warming up. I couldn't quite

I would still like to buy a non-oversampling DAC for comparison.
They're worth a listen. I ordered a stock LiTe DAC-Ah to hear what the
fuss was about (it's certainly cheap enough, and seems solidly built for
under $200), and I'm glad I did. My internal jury's still
I wanted a cheap dac to play with so I ordered a Zhaolu 2.0 for $162.00.
I do not expect it to compete with the truly top end but it should be
fun to mod and play with. I have about 6 sets of opamps I am going to
demo in it.
Personally I would never buy a lite dac. I have read many reports of

I've never heard a $6K CDP in my system either.
Once again, I was only interested in what experience you'd had with the
best transport/DAC combos out there, to arrived at your guess.
Nothing more.
I did own a $6kish system to compare to: a Pioneer Elite PDS-95
transport
I also have this combo. Agree with Ksie - a more 3D and musically
pleasing presentation. I replaced a Sony 999ES with the SqueezeBox 3
and it's been the best thing for my music listening. I have my system
connected to solid state, Odyssey Tempest + Stratos and the sound is
never fatiguing. I
