is a noticeable reduction of hammer noise (or maybe the damper or soft
pedal moise) when listening to 256 Bps encoded mp3 vs Flacs,

components, I'd say you're done and should enjoy it and not obscess

SB3-Lavry DA10-Nuforce 9.02s-Harbeth Monitor 30s/Skylan stands.
Simple and satisfying. In a larger room, I would move back to larger

It is certainly true for the Lavry, which is a re-clocker that does it
right. The issue really isn't perfecting transports. So long as they
are bit-perfect, they're fine; the point is perfecting the DAC and
devising solid re-clocking and de-jittering schemes. This isn't just

the DAC will never run at exactly the same speed as the clock in the
source because the crystals are slightly different. That means data is

You might be interested in Scott Endler's balanced attenuators. I have a
pair of his single-ended ones, and they're great, and not expensive at
all. If you're using the Transporter as your sole source (as I do the
SB3), then passive attenuators are a great way to go.
