Excellent post.
One thing: without analogue attenuation (ie, moving the jumpers) with,
at least in my experience, a 26db gain amp, there is a lot of volume.
To me, all the way to the left should be silence and all the way to the
right should be very loud but not wall-smashing. I experimented

Nice speakers, by the way -- talk about engineering that works toward
getting the room/speaker situation right from the start.
Really, there is no need to go nuts. I don't have one square inch of
foam in my room -- and my room is far from perfect. It is, however, a
family living room, so I
I downloaded your .drc files. Your normal.drc file is in fact different
from mine. The resulting filter sounded a bit scooped, but not awful
to me (I didn't measure it).
I've attached the normal file i've been using.
BTW, I had some pretty serious room problems before I got rid of a

Its really not the file format that is critical.
Cars are simply noisy and have terrible acoustics.
You rapidly reach the point of diminishing returns.
There is a high end Lexus with a serious stereo (I think Mark Levinson)
I don't think I have ever heard of a Lavry product referred to as
mediocre. Considering these are some of the most respected -- and
used, especially by the classical crowd -- DACs in mastering studios
says rather a lot about their quality. These are professional, not
audiophile, products (with
On 2nd thought perhaps you should get your BAC to 2.0. I don't know how
else I could get through the rigors of all the above criteria:-)

Whoa there, hang on if the difference is so subtle
Right - if you see it on the visualizer, it is definitely a data or
software problem, not anything physically wrong with the SB3 or your
equipment.
This could be quite hard to track down unless you can find some pattern
to it. Next time you hear the clicks, try restarting that track and see

Burn-in and 'break-in' are two entirely separate concepts with respect
to electronic systems. One has an engineering or scientific basis
while the other would appear to me to be marketing hype. As mentioned
in posts above, burn-in is an established procedure for almost any
system, be it
