Like you said cliveb, we've been over this many times. But I do believe
you are wrong in this. From what I know it boils down to this. You

However theoretically you get lower SNR by reducing volume

There's nothing theoretical about it - the SNR

Bad wording form my side. I was trying to say what you are saying,

someone said below 80% of max volume you start losing

I thought/hear a reduction in quality from 100% downward so if you run
at 100% vol on the sb3 then you may notice a drop off .
I'd suggest that you set the nait's vol with the sb3 at 100% to your
normal listening vol

Not really, you can easily get a round trip ticket for 200-220 pounds

it depends on

It's not hard this - the SB3 has a 24-bit processing path; Redbook uses
16 bits, so you can reduce volume by 8 bits before losing any resolution.

I have tryed both (Transported and SB3) with an external DAC (Audio
Note).
Rest of the Stuff:
Plinius Tautoro (preamp)
Plinius SA reference (amp)
Dynaudio Sapphire (speakers)
Audio Note (Interconects).
I'm not talking about measurements or tech considerations, only EAR.
The difference is HUGE.
The Tivoli stuff is nice, but you're missing the part of the original
post: the active loudspeakers (audioengine A2's). What GVH is really
looking for is a preamp/FM tuner.
I can't suggest one of those, but if you don't mind changing from an
active to as passive speaker, what you're looking for

Just disable replay gain, and crank the volume to 100. That will give

Hi Guys
Well I can dispell the myths. I have listened to the Akurate DS Vs The
Slim Transporter.
I spent a good 2-3 days demoing the Transporter in my system (search on
the forum for the results) and concluding that the Transporter, whilst
good functionality wise sounded awful. Not musical,
If there's a HUGE difference , something is broken , cos I not only
compared SB and TP but a transport too (theta Jade) , any differences
were marginal, if existant ..
However the analog output of SB/TP and CDP's all differed quite a lot.
The Sb/TP sounded more similar to each other than my
