I too am a bit confused. A source, like a satellite receiver usually has
one digital output, and an analog output. Normally you must activate one
in the menu, but its not recommended to use both at the same time.
The digital output is a normal coax, you can use any rca interconnect
for this

I was considering but both those solutions are more than I want to

$12,000.
Yep they're huge money. I heard a Puccini with
I have a SB3, which I use, digits out, to a Tact pre-amp, but sometimes
use it with the headphone out feeding the dining room system, which has
no volume control, but relies on the variable out of the SB. Just
updated the squeezecentre software, and the SB did a firmware update

I have a Lavry DA10.
In order to avoid overload on the integrated amplifier inputs you
should set volume on the Lavry somewhere between 40 and 46. The exact
voltage values these correspond to are given in the Lavry manual. I
assume you are using unbalanced inputs on your integrated amplifier.
I believe the only way is to use an old squeezecenter and firmware
combination. This feature disappeared some time ago..

Thanks Dave.. I just wanted to make sure someone is doing this. I'm
also wondering if anyone is using a programmable remote like the
harmony one to do the input switching with a one touch operation
instead of drilling down in the menu?

What a burn!
Seems a rather 'odd' feature

I'm using a SB3 for some time now and because of wife and kids I'm
listening quite often to the headphone out of the SB3.
My headphone is a Sennheiser HD600 and I'm sure it can do better than i
hear via the sb3. But i have no headphone amp and my preamp has no
headphone out.

I seem to recall this was necessitated because of firmware memory
restrictions (this might be wrong). It is tedious that a feature that
used to work perfectly has been removed - presumably to fit some other
feature in.

Not really. A digital coax must be 75-ohm with 75-ohm connectors to
meet the spec. RCA/Phono connectors can't be

I will have to change from XLR (balanced output) to rca to go

You are indeed working backwards. The critical interface is amp and

Yes, if you get a balanced to single ended converter (the circuit is
fairly simple) you shouldn't have a problem. The outputs are fully
isolated.

Hi,
Should be fine. Try first to connect the TP with the unbalanced outputs
(RCA) and add -10dB attenuation by changing the jumper position
internally in the TP. This will lower your output voltage from 2Vrms to
0.6 Vrms (~1/3) and avoid any problem. If the volume is loud enough,
this is fine
