I have the Channel Islands DAC and was wondering if the DAC-1 would be an upgrade. It seems that it would be no better than an even swap. Do you think any of new more expensive DAC's would come close to the performance of a transporter? Jim -- boxerboy

That's good to know. I'm surprised it's not clear in any of the specs that this is: 1. How the digital volume control works, since it is superior to most other methods, and 2. that the digital output is always 24 bit. I guess the only downside is that: 1. If you are trying to stream HDCD

The volume difference between the Duet analog output and your CD player is related to the low analog output level of the Duet. The unbalanced output level of a typical CD player is about 2.0 V rms. If you look at the Duet specs you can see that the output is 4.2 Vpp (peak to peak). Doing the math
