Personally I'd buy/borrow a modded Oppo and rip the SACD's as 24/88.2

player.
But that's just my opinion of course.

1. I've NEVER STATED the TCP/IP packet are different anyhow - I really

From the tech point of view, those differences

Hi Marco,

The output of the digital out is bit identical wav vs flac .
That you can prove for yourself with DTS or HDCD material should one
bit go astray then the decoding of dts or hdcd would break down .

the best workaround is to use flac to re-encode that one track. It'll
probably work with the default settings.

Hi all again,
curiosity will kill the cat (...me...), i've downloaded Audio diffmaker
then attached my SB to a ALESIS IO2 USB Sound card (analog output), then
played 1 min of OLD LOVE in WAVE and the same 1 Min in FLAC converted
in WAVE on the server, then compared.
This is the result:
Same test as before but inverted (wave-flac) comparation:
parameters: 61,6msec, 0,005dB (L), 0,006dB (R)..Corr Depth: 80,2 dB
(L), 65,1 dB (R)
If someone could explain me how, i'll be glad to post fhe DIFF file (is
10 MB).
Thanks.

Hi Gary, Thamys and Mnyb
no i did not run an ABX test, but my wife was playng with files on
the server in the adiacent room, and i had to recognise them, so is
nearly a blind test I suppose.
Anyway, looking at the measure results, i think is anymore so important
the way I noticed differences,
I can't help you with the tests, but others here probably can. And your
blind test does answer my question. But at this point I think you've
discovered something else altogether which is likely driving the
differences. I would have guessed this all along, as it is very unlikely
that one could be
Thanks Garym,
I realy hope Phil or someone else more expert than me in ADM measures
could help me, I think that just liestening to the diff file will
clarify why I was so obstinate in my opinion, but i've no idea in how to
post a 10 MB file.
For sure I'll post next results.
Thanks, Marco

You don't need to decode to WAV. If you just run the FLAC utility it
will decode and re-encode the FLAC using standard settings.

Is the 4 SPDIF moded Oppo the way to go ? How do you actually capture it
so it can be played via TP ?
You plug the SPDIF from the Oppo into a sound card on your PC, and
record it. Just like recording a tape from a record in the good ole
days!

I understand that already - please re-read my previous posts. What I'm
telling you is that you may be able to make it into a FLAC file that
plays OK by re-encoding it.
For example, try this:
flac -3 -o filename_new.flac filename.flac
